Going to sell my '05 TSX w/6sp

I placed an add in the black market forum, but I see it is for all kinds of cars, so I thought I wold mention it here.

I am selling my '05 TSX w/6sp in carbon gray and black leather. It is all bone stock of course and driven by me, a 40 year old fart who drives easy. It only has 7K miles on it and is in excellent condition. My last car was a 5 speed and had 174k on it with the original clutch, so I must be doing something right.

Price: $24,500 obo

I am in Pittsburgh, PA

I was car shopping last week, here in CT. I saw an Artic Blue 05 Non Navi 6SPD for $ 25K brand new at the Acura Dealer.

yeah I hear you drkabe....there is a fine line of value where buying a used great condition, low mileage (assuming that h_curtis' is) for a couple thousand below the new price doesn't seem worth it. yes it's less money, but knowing that each mark, nick, or squeak originated from you is worth more than $2840 (using str8tsx's cost for new vs. h_curtis's asking price). I say this because locally there was a used 05 MT with nav for $25000 exact color combo I want. (plus I personally like the front of the 04/05) but I rationalized with myself (a long discussion) that it would be justifiable to me if it were $5000 less the than the price for a new TSX . SURE I know that is unrealistic, but that is how I recently set a limit for a used tsx ( I essentially made a depreciation of $5k). I know that a new car depreciates 10-15% driving off the lot, but rational numbers don't always work in one's mind.
h_curtis, best of luck selling your TSX. Even with a great condition, low mileage car, it's tough to recoup cost. Sometimes it seems better to run it for a bit longer (mileage) to get to that point where you don't lose that much.

Curt -

I'm Pittsburgh local, too. I'll ask around since a few guys from work and some of my old Subaru pals were all over my TSX when I bought it...

To be honest the BMW dealer is letting me trade it in at a very fair price and I figured I would see about selling it myself while I am waiting for my car to be shipped. Keep in mind, I did say obo. I am going back to a 330i. That is what I was driving before and I really miss the car. I felt the TSX was a bit too noisy on concrete and doesn't have that solid feel I am used to. Don't get me wrong, for the price the TSX is very hard to beat. It may be the best car in its class. If anyone has interest make an offer. I am just going to trade it in anyway.

Congrats!!

Damn I want a 330 too, great looking car. Only problem is there everywhere. Around here anyway. Even more common than a PWP TSX.

What color/tranny did you go with?

Plus, you're getting free maintenance right for 4 yrs at BMW?

I would want a 330i too, but after that 4 yrs and warranty run out will u keep your 330i or sell it? I always thought that German cars are more expensive in the long run to maintain after the warranty runs out than Japanese cars.

I have both. If the BMW can be 10% as reliable as a Honda, and the manual tranny can be 10% as slick as Honda and the engine can be 10% as smooth as Honda on high rev and less rattles and more usable space then a 3-series is a good car. I have love & hate on my bimmer but I just love my Honda without a complaint. Will I going to get another BMW? Yes, I am planning to get the 335i sedan next year to replace my E46. Why? because I already has a Honda so I feel safe to take another risk again! IMO, BMW is still the best German and you can only get status on German... I am giving it up and need to brain wash myself that made in Japan is inferior to made in German.

i would get a 330i or M3 in a heartbeat...if i had space for a 2nd car. bmw is one of the top engine designers up there with honda.

i've since learnt from friends that i just can't justify having it as my main mode of transportation w/o visiting the dealership more then owning my honda.

You know the BMW coupe has a new style change coming later this year why don't you wait for the newer 328i, 328xi and 300hp 335i coupe?? Since you're going to BMW anyways wouldn't hurt to wait. The new Coupe is looking sexy.

Black Sapphire. It has the sport package with those cool 162 rims. Only a few more weeks until it gets here.

You're trading in your ENTIRE CAR because of the sound on concrete?

Did you even try swapping the tires out first?

Okay, there are other reasons, but I don't think it shows too much class to say I wasn't that happy with the feel of the car on a TSX forum. I am impressed with fuel economy and the power that little motor puts out. It is a great car for the price. I prefer the feel of the BMW. It has a more solid feel on the road. Keeping in mind the price of the BMW is way more money. Is it worth that much more? No, but I have enough money and want the car anyway. For the price the TSX is really a good deal. Who ever gets my car will get one broken in correctly. One that has had an oil change at 5,000 miles because I don't go for the 10K. I keep a nice car. Does have a damn scratch on the passenger side rim though. That is bugging me, but most people probably wouldn't care much.

Believe me, the TSX really is a nice car. Keep in mind I sold a '04 330i for the TSX. It wasn't as nice IMHO. That is purely subjective and personal taste.

They may be "yucky," but the driving dynamics are tough to beat. Since the TSX was originally conceived as a direct competitor to the E46 325i, it stands to reason that some TSX owners would aspire to own a BMW. The cars are similar in intention.

I'd love a 330i, but right now the price is holding me back.

When my warranty is up (5 years) I probably will be looking at the BMW. It better be worth the hype. My parents own one, but I don't like drooling over other people's cars. Good luck with the 3 and I hope that T goes to someone who is currently dreaming of a great bang for the buck Acura.
