A girl and her car...a love story
Picture it: the Milwaukee Auto Show, January 2003. I am just starting to think about a new car. My love for my Honda Accord leads me to look at an Acura TL. I pick up a brochure for the Acura line. On the way home, I flip through and there it is--the TSX. It's love at first sight. Forces of nature have kept us apart for 3 long years until just yesterday.
Yes, it's true. I finally, finally bought a TSX. I'm thinking of sending out engraved announcements. I'm "officially" a member, now.
I got the Nighthawk Black MT with Navi and black interior. Before I get the "useless w/o pics" --let me say that the car is on a truck somewhere, on it's way to me. Then it will be getting a spoiler and a tint job before I take her home. Believe me, I'll have more pics than a new mother.
If anyone's interested in the details, I'll spill that. First of all, thanks be to my pal, Mr. Chad for all his good advice, as usual. We have only one Acura dealer here in southeastern WI. I didn't know how to get a good deal if there's no one to shop. He suggested emailing dealers in IL to get offers and to find the combo I wanted. This was the most fun I've ever had buying a car. I basically shopped for it on my butt while the dealer fought for my business. How cool is that?
My first offer was from a dealer in IL who had the black with parch. interior that I orginally wanted. They offered $500 over invoice right off the line. My dealer here in Wisconsin promptly called and asked why the heck I wasn't coming over there to look. I told him what I wanted and he said they couldn't get the parch, but had a black with black interior on it's way in. They matched the price, but what were they gonna give me for taking my second choice in color, I asked. They threw in tint for free and the spoiler at cost. All in all, I paid $28,800 for the car, including $615 destination and another $595 for the spoiler. We also got to take advantage of the special Acura financing of 4.9% for 60mo.
I can't begin to tell you how happy I am and I can't wait to have my black beauty in the driveway. Thanks also to all the members--I'll be continuing to appreciate the wealth of knowledge here.
The only other thing I can say is --Milwaukee Meet this summer!!! (Party to celebrate my long quest to follow. )

Wow. That's a great story! That's almost a 3 year wait Congrats
You've been a member for a long time now, so that's awesome that you finally ended up getting one. Looking forward to see the pics. Enjoy!

Awesome write-up, and congratulations on the new car! I agree about the advice on this forum...this is definitely an excellent site.
Black/black is a stunning combo. We were this close to driving home in a black/parchment car, but my wife really wanted the royal blue. Congrats again!

Don't worry, i think you're going to like the black on black more than black on parch, the interior of the car is simply stunning...

My boy just sold his 600RR and the guy that got it wrecked it in a week and called him back up to tell him the sad news.

Now what are you going to do with your 6th Gen Accord coupe?
Now I know the reason why whenever I drive to WI there are not a lot of Acuras there. j/k :P

That sounds a little like my story too. I did also want the TL, but price and the fact that it is worse on mileage and doesn't corner as well as the TSX alluded me to instead choose the TSX. I wanted also the NBP with 6MT and Navi, and would not settle for anything else. I dealt also with the internet however we only have two dealerships in Sacramento and each is a good distance away from each other, with the closest wanted way too much. No combos as the way I wanted it was around also at the time except for one. That one was also on a delievery truck when the dealer trade happened on a Friday and in fact had to wait till Monday, on I think it was Martin Luther King's B-day, to purchase mine because the car hadn't gone through PDI at the time. The thing I didn't like however was that the individual drove my car around 100+ miles for the dealer trade and I wish they would have just transported via truck to the dealership.
