German Castrol in the 2.4L

I recently put German Castrol 0w-30 in. At first it was a bit sluggish, but I think it had to do with the gas I was running. (Mobil 87 Otctane) Car is very smooth at high rpms with this oil. Anyone else running this? Could have gone with a solid 20wt I'm sure, and I still might but I want to see how this oil performs in this car being I drive fairly hard.

Well the sluggishness is definitely due to the fuel. Shouldn't run anything but 91 octane or higher.

As for the oil, the lighter 0W-30 vs 5W-20 Mobil 1 may not give you any better performance, but I'm not sure how you could scientifically tell.

I heard a lot of good stuff about the German Castrol 0W-30, and i believe the people on www.bobistheoilguy.com swear by it. I used it once and i find it no different from Mobil 1, so i just stick to using the readily available Mobil 1 in my car. (same price around here)

The oil is outstanding. It's so good that BITOG members had the oil broken down ($700) to find what it was made of. It's a fully synthetic PAO/Ester based oil. Great for HP cars or hard driving 4cylinders. Has also helped eliminate oil consumption in many cars.

Bill,
Autozone only. Look for Castrol Syntec 0w-30 MADE IN GERMANY.

Just too thick for my tastes...I like something in the 8cst range. GC is 12.2 cst. Honda2.4, did you put in the Gold GC or Green GC?
