Question Fuel Guage

Hi.

So, here I am. Day 8 as a TSX owner.

I've filled up twice now and have noticed that, after about 60 miles on the new tank of gas, the fuel guage indicates that I'm already down to about 3/4 of a tank. I squeezed 400 miles out of the previous fill-up, so I know that I'm not 1/4 of the way to filling up again -- but, still, it's not very accurate. And it makes me feel like I'm going through gas much more quickly than I actually am. And, on the previous tank, the guage read "empty" even though the next fill-up accepted only 14.5 gallons of gas.

In previous cars, I'd drive 100 miles or more before the guage inched below "full." (Not that that's any more accurate, but there's nothing more comforting than thinking you have a full tank of gas!)

Has anyone else experienced this?

Is it worth mentioning to the dealer? Or, is this just typical of the inaccurate nature of fuel guages in general?

Thanks,

Mike

I believe it's just the way the fuel guage on this car is, as everybody has said something about it at one point in time before. I know mine is the same way, it will fall fast from full to about 3/4 full, then go slow all the way down to the light coming on telling me I need to fill up when I have a good 3-4 gallons left in the tank. It's no bother though...just takes some getting used to.

Every Acura I have owned has done the same thing. I am driving my 4th. As in most things Acura/Honda is very conservative in their fuel gauge setup.

Just as an FYI, the fuel gauge DOES NOT denote 3/4, 1/2, or 1/4 because the gauge DOES NOT equate to them either. Its just a guage.
