Fog Light Bulbs
So, I'm ordering a fog light to replace my broken one. While I'm in there I want to go ahead and replace the bulbs. I'm going for something to match the color temperature of the stock HIDs. What have you guys all tried? And what have your experiences been? An HID kit would be nice, but I'm trying to keep this on the cheap. Thanks

It's extremely hard to match the stock HID's of the low beams because they run through a projector. I'm actually using the HIDXTRA hid kit and it doesn't match the stock one's at all. Instead they look a lot more yellow/white.

Without another projector, you're going to have mismatched colors. Best you can do is get a 5000k kit and not look at them if you're anal about them matching. You'll never get a reflector and a projector to match because of how the light is refracted through teh projector.

Go for 3000k and intentionally do the yellow look. Its really hard to match HID like the others have said. I have the Nokya Hyper yellow in my fogs (just halogens) and it looks good. besides the yellow fogs give you better performance, less glare back in foggy / rainy conditions. If you ever drive while it snows out, the yellow is very nice to have. Good luck!

I guess I should have explained better. I'm not trying to exactly match the OEM HID low beams. I'm just trying to get a better match than the stock fog light bulbs. I do realize that the low beams have a projector vs the reflector in the fogs. I'm not worried about that. I really just want the colors to match a bit better.
I've thought about going with the 3000k yellow lights. I had them on my old Neon. Yes, they have their advantages. But living in Florida they're minimal. We never get snow and thick fog is rare. They do cut down on glare in the rain, but I've learned to drive just about anything in a torrential downpour without difficulty.
Loso, how long have you had your HIDXTRA kit? How has it performed? And more importnatly, is it a plug and play kit? I want one of the kits that plugs into the factory plug without any splicing of the factory wiring.

TSX fogs are H11s. I know you can modify an H9 to work and get more output from them, but I don't want to do that. I'm putting Lumin-X film on them and I don't want to risk it yellowing from the extra heat of the higher wattage bulb.

Litesout --- don't mod an H9... just go to Hoen's website (www.hoen-usa.com) and get the Xenonmatch bulbs in size H11 55w. They're only $30 for the pair, and you get the factory fit at the factory wattage. I've been through 2 pairs in 5 years on the TSX, and I only had to replace them because a truck kicked up a rock that broke one of my fog lenses and bulb.
As far as halogens go, they are as close to our stock HIDs as I've personally tried (which includes PIAAs, Silverstars, and Nokyas).

Yeah, there's no way I was going to mod an H9 to work. I wanted to get the Hoens, and figured that's what I was going to do, but after shipping it was going to cost $40 for the bulbs. I went ahead and ordered a 4300k HID kit for $50. I'll see how they do. If I don't like them, I can always order the Hoens down the road.
I was also considering the Silverstars as I can get a 2 pack for $32 from the local place. I had them in my last car for my headlights and really liked them, and may get them to replace my high beams eventually. Good to know they're not a great match.
