Angry Fm Radio... Bad reception?

Ive had my car for about 10 months and ive noticed this car is the worst with the fm radio reception. Is there a possible way to fix this. I have a 06 auto/with nav.

Take it to the dealer. They may blame your tint, but that is b/s.

How can my tint affect the radio reception if that little thing on top of your moonroof is for the radio? or am i mistaken by the xm?

AM/FM radio antenna is integrated into the rear glass, and yes some metallic tints can affect reception. The bump on the roof is only for the XM.

Do you think the dealer can really do anything about this? My FM radio reception is pretty crappy, I have no tint, but I've never brought it up because I don't really know what they'd do.

Yea seriously they cant do anything about it besides maybe just say... "deal with it"
if its cause of my tints they can screw themselves

Yeah, Poltergeist got it right. The navi's antenna is in the rear deck (if you have navi), so tint can affect it as well (it can block/reflect the signals). As for FM, I'm not sure if the tint can affect its reception. What kind of tint did you get?

I've always had so-so radio reception, even before I got tint. Not much you can do about it though, I don't think.

^^^smarty pants..... jk!

I am going to say you have some type of metallic or semi metallic film on your back window that is going to mess up am/fm/nav reception.

Also, I see that you have a sub in the trunk. If you have a Class D(?) amplifier, that can severely screw up your reception. I used to have a Diamond Audio 1200W amp in the trunk, that made my reception ridiculosly horrible. Once I got robbed and got a JL amp, it was much much better!

I have noticed that when I put my cell phone in the bin directly under the radio and I use my Bluetooth headset, the reception gets really bad and filled with static. I have started to put my phone in one of the cup holders and that has helped quite a bit.

I suspect it's the tint. I recently had SolarGard True Grey tint installed on my car and the radio reception became pretty bad afterward. FM's still pretty good, but AM (don't laugh, it's for the weather and traffic reports) is full of static now.

In all honesty, I don't mind as I rarely listen to the radio anyway... got my iPod running in the car through an ice>Link for tunes.

I have the same problem (poor FM reception in an '04 TSX). As soon I mentioned it to the service department at the dealership, the guy just shook his head and said there was nothing that could be done about it. He immediately blamed the embedded antenna in the glass.

It looks like Acura may have botched this part of the car.

So far though, I've had the car 4 weeks and that's the only complaint... what a fantastic vehicle!
