Few questions for navi owners...
As you all know, I recently converted my car from non-navi to navi. It's been a month now and I have a couple of questions. Please try to answer them consecutively if possible.
1. Is there any way to make it so that the screen does NOT turn on each time the car starts? (Just stay blank until I press a button).
2. Does the DVD drive always stay spinning and reading the disc when the car is driving? What does the DVDrom drive read the Map CD for on startup? Aren't all the maps already loaded permanantely into it's memory?
3. The accuracy is probably off by 10 feet too far behind. I know many of you guys had this problem. I thought there was a way to correct it to add distance bias correction??? But the "counter" for 1000ft-0ft. during navi prompts is fairly accurate on the dot.
thank you

I had problems until I added the VSSOUT (E26) wire to the ECU too. Also, the harness that I bought didn't have provision for the Reverse (back up lights) signal.. After fixing those problems, it's spot on the money...!
If you continue to have problems after adjusting the position manually, go to the menus and make sure that all of your corrections are set to Automatic.. It will correct for tire size, VSS pulse counts and Yaw rate inputs automatically...

For reference, I have factory 2006 navi.
1) No. It will come on at startup, and you have the option to not hit 'OK'. Also, while it is on after hitting OK, you can hit setup and then turn the screen off.
2) yes, always spinning. no, maps not loaded, no significant amount of memory in the system that would be able to keep them in ram. after 2 years i'm still on the same OEM disc with no usability problems, so I wouldn't worry about it.
3) It knows EXACTLY where you are, but the arrow it displays shows you just slightly behind where you really are. As I mentioned in another thread you started, I can only tell at 1/20mile and 1/8mile distances. I usually driver at 1/4mile on the navi and it seems spot on, OK, maybe just a tad behind, but always precise if not perfectly accurate, and I know exactly where I am.

thanks you guys.
yes, before i had the vss wire and can bus wire not hooked up. The accuracy was extremely erratic.
My accuracy and GPS acquisition is fine and quick. And yes it's just that the 1/8 or 1/20th scale, its technically not 100% exactly on point. My old Garmin M3 PDA GPS handheld unit was more accurate at that low scale than this acura navi.
oh well....
