Extended Warranty Question

First time.

Just got a 2006 with 105k miles. They offered an EW but it's only on the powertrain. I got it at first since they offered it for $1050 and said I could cancel at anytime and have a prorated return.

Typically I think its a waste. But I'm reading others who got a full warranty, and since this doesn't cover anything like the AC or other parts external to the Engine/Tranny I wondered if it's a huge waste.

Thoughts appreciated. (I know that are many threads; not found one specific to my question.)

If the car has been maintained properly, I'd say your wasting your money. Otherwise, at 105K miles, all bets are off. Any chance you can get a service history on the car? The engine is basically bulletproof, the transmision (I'll assume it's an AT) should be OK too, but as an aside, no matter what you do, change out the AT fluid right now, and do it right (3x3). There are also other things that need attention at around that mileage, and if you don't know if they've been done, you should do them now. Assuming the car was maintained, and you continue to, it will last a long time.
