No need to pray - you need to hone your negotiating skills.
End of the month would have been a better time to try.

dealerships tend to lowball the trade ins so what you can do is get the trade-in value from edmunds/kelley blue book and bring that in. Something else I've also tried is going to carmax and let them appraise my vehicle. They'll test drive it and print out a offer letter for your vehicle which is usually a lot higher then what dealerships offer.

Good luck!

we've always done a private sale to get rid of the old car, since you always get a better price from private buyers. because the price always ends up being lower than the marked up retail price, you generally get a better price than you would from a dealer (including CarMax), and the buyer gets a lower price than what they would have paid to a commercial seller. i know that this is not always the case, but we have always had decent luck with this option.

yup, ricecake is right, if your not in a hurry to sell then private sale is the best way to go. but i thought you were going in tomorrow?

in any case, the diff i got from my carmax appraisal and a private sale on a vehicle i sold recently was $1k so private sale is def the way to go

I guess we don't need to get in to who gives people their negotiating skills ... so we don't have to throw up the

Good luck with the trade in nore_03 ... you'll like your TSX if you get it ... no doubt.
