Engine still tight or?

Humm,I don't know what to say, maybe just my bad driving skills. I constantly feel that the engine is very tight and not that willing to rev when start off the line these days.
Couple of days ago,my friend and I both on a freeway and there's only one van in between of us.She merged on highway ahead me and I followed that van and merged later, just like 15 seconds later. However,I ended up speeding up to 150km/h to catch her,and it took me 5 minutes to achieve that. The best part is,she drives a 2000 echo
These two days,I have been smoked by any car, virtually any car on the other lane when start off at the red light.Corolla,Mazda 3,and today, when going up hill,a Ford Tempest smoked me,I was at 4k rpm but he's still 3 cars length ahead me,and I was thinking, floor the Vtec out just to pass a tempest?
Ok,enough for complaining.I somehow heard that the engine is kinda tight at the very beginning and will be getting better later on?Since at first and second gear,I really feel that the power is not there.

That's a common problem with the TSX,

Solution:
1. rebadge your car to HONDA ACCORD, make sure none of those Acura logos are seen anywhere in the car. If successful, you will gain 50+ hp.
2. Replace your stock foglight bulbs with the yellow ones, this will allow for VTEC to kick in at 1150 RPM.

Problem solved

Do you have an AT? If so you shoudnt be surprised by losing to a Mazda 3 or Corolla. If its an MT, wel it could be your driving skills.

I dont know, I havent seen the numbers, but the TSX is heavy so I wouldnt be surprised if it was within .5 second to 60. Bottom line is both will be slow.

The TSX isn't a race car. Perhaps the BC bud is beginning to take its toll?

yeah,I am not talking about racing.....I am not a racing guy at all.Just feel weird that how they can launch this quick while my needle doesn't catch up as fast.
One thing that I can feel honestly is that when TSX is in the third gear,it has faster pick up and feel more lively.

You haven't broken your engine in enough, keep driving it hard. That 205HP/164lbf "official rating" only applies for the first 5000 miles!

I think you should just practice on your driving skills. I have a MT and have no problem taking off at the line....and if your on the highway and need to fly to pass someone up or catch up just down shift. If im cruising at 80mph and need to go faster, for w/e reason, I just drop it down to 4th and GOOOOO

The TSX is not a quick car off the line, particularly if you have an AT. However, you shouldn't be getting your handed to you by pedestrian econoboxes. What year is your TSX? How many miles do you have on it? What technique do you use to lauch off the line?

06,2900kms.....
Well, now I am thinking that maybe I should not drive the IS350 to lunch in the future...Maybe that will make me feel better about it. (j/k)
However,I heard that the engine tight feeling will occur when still doing the break-in,don't know if this is true or not.

Engines will gain a BIT of power after the break-in period, because the parts have had time to mate to each other fully (rings on the cylinder walls, etc...), but we're talking MAX 5hp here would be my guess...

The engine will loosen up after break-in. Mine happend at around 9K-10K miles. You'll notice it revving more freely and your mileage will improve. Of course, if you drive the IS350 its not going to feel anywhere as fast as that.

I drive an 06 5AT and only have about 2500 km on it now and have never been beaten by an anything like a Ford Tempest. The TOV proves this especially with the car in sportshift. They acheived a 0-60 in 7.7 secs. That is close to 04-05 6MT times.

www.vtec.net/articles/view-article?page_number=4&article_id=493583

Seeing as we both have the same car, except that yours is a PWP, there is really only one explanation......ASM is definately the faster colour.

Seriously tho, the engine will gain more power as you put more miles on and do some oil changes. This has been proven in dynos by Hondata.

If another car gets a jump on you, you're not going just reel them in quickly....the car only has 205hp, its not 300

I took the IS250 out today for lunch instead of the IS350 I used to take.Actually,I felt that it's slow..... The torque is listed bigger than the TSX,however, can't feel it at all. This really gives me some balance here. : At least I know it's not something wrong with my tsx,it's my mind maybe....
