Went to Acura and got my brakes checked and part of the recommendations I noticed on the form is an EGR Port Cleaning.

Anyone ever get this done or heard of it as a needed item?

That's funny, I didn't think the TSX had an EGR valve.

For emissions, the ability for Honda to rotate the cam to zero at idle to dial out all overlap makes for a very clean engine with no need for EGR. EGR porting is on place on the head but is blocked off.

There is no EGR valve on the TSX. However, there is an EGR plate which is on top of the intake manifold but it doesn't have any EGR function. Therefore, it doesn't have any carbon build-up that requires cleaning. All you will see is traces of oil from the PCV process. How much did the dealer charge for the "EGR port cleaning"?

They didn't do it, just listed it as Recommendation. List was:

- Recommend front brake pads and m/c rotors
- Recommend rear brake pads and rotors
- Recommend brake fluid flush
- Recommend EGR port cleaning.

I have an 04 6MT with 87,720km on it. I was just curious as to what the ERG port cleaning was and if it was needed. I'm not one who goes for the "type a,b,c,d" servicings, rather go when something needs to be done.
