Easy to maintain tan interior?

How's having a tan interior? Easy to maintain? Easy to see dirt marks?

It's been very easy to maintain in my case. Just an occasional swipe with a leather cleaning cloth, (pre-moistened variety, rather than using liquid from a bottle that can get into the little perforations), 3-4 times a year. Mine's an 06 and the leather looks great.

On my '08 parchment dye from belts have left their mark. I have tried several cleaners and nothing lifts it. I have yet to try Leatherique.

Yup, that's what I thought. Tan do get marked up pretty easily.

Debating if I should trade in my 2008 TL Type S for an 2008 TSX. Only ones I find available are with Tan interiors. I prefer black due to the light interiors can get marked up and noticeable.

Leathers can be redyed - I have had it done before on a light grey interior - looked great.

Well, I guess it depends on what you're wearing/rubbing up against the seats and the transferability of that particular item's dyes.

But as I said, I have an 2006, with tan leather...and no dark marks anywhere; the leather still looks new. (I've had an occasional bit of dirt or smudge show up, but it easily came off with Meguiar's leather cleaner wipes.) The thing I personally like about the tan leather is that it never gets that gray haze that black leather gets when it's dirty.

I find the tan (parchment) interior to be reasonable to keep looking good. The only difficult part is dark scuff marks get on the door thresholds (mostly from soles of shoes). The scuff marks are difficult to remove until I found the "Mr. Clean Magic Eraser" - it removes the dark scuff marks easily.

almost bought a 04 tsx but did not like the light interior with the Milano Red. Glad I waited.

Hey nj2pa2nc, good to see you. I agree.

If I were to get a Milano Red TSX, (or some other colors, like Silver), I think the black interior is a good choice. However, I chose the Nighthawk Black Pearl, and it seemed like a black cabin in an all-black car was a little dour. --Everyone who has seen it loves the combination. It has a very nice contrast and makes the car look perhaps even more upscale than it is -- especially after Acura greatly improved the interior "wood" accents in the 2006 model update.

Now I think I'll go drink a "Black & Tan" --Oops; it's only 9:20 here and I've got lots of client work to do. Better wait 8 hours...

The black (ebony) interior does not get extremely hot (IMO) and Still looks good. Owned a black car that looked beautiful when clean. Note: One car. Have a great evening with your black and tan.

I think the downsides of the colors we're discussing depend upon where one resides and what one does. For example, I would not own a black leather interior, (or a black car), if I lived in Las Vegas or Oklahoma, and left the car outside all day with the sun beating on it.

I have no trouble keeping my black car looking clean with a wash once every two weeks, with the dry climate here in Colorado. I'm also self-employed and work from home, so the TSX stays in the garage all day. But having lived in the midwest and east with more rain, no way would I own a black car there. Spots and dirt often showed up on my dark blue Mazda RX-7 a day after a wash in Chicago.

(Alas, didn't get a chance to have 'Black & Tan' last night...too much work. Maybe tonight.)
