E/T and AVG MPG reset?

Does anyone know what the E/T means on the Trip Computer? I'm too lazy to look in the manual right now. Also if you have the gas milage reset everytime you fill up, how long does it take for the MPG Average to recalculate correctly? Thanks for the input.

elapsed time. Time the keys were in the ignition between resets.

The MPG will begin recalculating immediately, and it seems to be accurate right away.
The number jumps around quite a bit at first, but that's how it really is with "moving averages" that start from scratch.

As has been mentioned several times before in other discussions, the mpg average per tank displayed by the system is not completely accurate. I check with each fill-up and only one of every five or six tanks comes within 1 mpg of the miles driven/gallons used method... the computer always displays a higher number than the measured mpg.
