Dropped my car off at the shop yesterday.

I don’t know if any of you remember my post from like 2 weeks ago but a taxi hit my front passenger fender, corner of my bumper, and cracked my headlight. Well I dropped my car off at Acura of Boston yesterday. I had a coworker offer to have a friend of his who has a few local body shops fix my car and burry the $500 deductible in the cost of the repairs for me. As tempting as that was I decided to go with the dealership because I have heard good thing about Acura of Boston on here and because I wanted to make sure the work done to it was perfect since the car isn’t even 3 months old yet. One major concern I had was paint matching since my car is PWP, but I figured if any place could do a good job it would be the dealership. So as of now I’m driving a new impala as a rental car and it definitely makes me realize how nice my car actually is and how much I take it for granted.

FYI, dealerships normally outsource that function anyway. Good luck.

Acura of Boston has a full body shop there so I'm pretty sure they will be doing all the work.

My dealership has one of the best body shops in the city, and are the ones that Mercedes, Porsche, BMW, Audi, and a few others... contract to.

Worth: Hopefully they can get the PWP to match. I have PWP and know that its really hard to get a good match if the existing paint is sun-aged at all. Being a 3-stage pearl paint makes it a royal PITA for painters to get a proper match on. If they get it "good enough" in 90% of lighting conditions, I'd consider that a job very well done. It will never match the OEM paint 100%.

just goes to show you don't know what you're missing 'til it's gone. luckily you'll be getting your car back!

are there no insurance companies in the states that require the garages to use used parts when repairing used cars? i hit a badger with my old volvo (unnnk!) and had to accept the fact that they put in a used radiator and a few other things.. weird but just the way they had it written in the contract.
