drive by wire system question

Is the drive by wire system separate from the ECU or directly tied into the ECU?

That is;

pedal input to ECU to throttle body solenoid

or

pedal input to standalone module to throttle body solenoid

or

pedal input directly to throttle body sensor/solenoid

The gas pedal has a physical connection to the Accelerator Pedal Position sensor (APP), and the APP has the electrical connection to the ECU.

The Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) and the Throttle Actuator is physically on the throttle body, which has electrical connection to the Throttle Actuator Control Module, and the Throttle Actuator Control Module has the electrical connection to the ECU.

The ECU uses these electrical connections for sensor feedback and actuator control.
