Does having OEM Navigation effect your insurance rate?

I saw a post in the black market section where someone was selling the OEM Navigation. If you were to ever need to get replacement parts it would cost a whole lot of money. If you price them out individually it totals $9000! I know it would cost a lot less if you bought them used, but even for the dealer price, that is super high. My question is, does having the factory navigation raise your insurance rate? I wouldn't think that it would, but was just wondering what you guys have been experiencing.

If you bought every piece of your car individually, it wiuld cost like 5 times more then you would as a whole.

So to answer your question..no.

damn $9,000 for replacement parts??! I say go aftermarket man.....that price is insane. And I have a non-navi so I'm not too sure if having the navi would make a difference in the premium. It shouldn't though but i think I can check for you.

Wow! The navi costs more than the motor which last time I looked was $7,000 not including anything mounting to or on it.

So the insurance companies don't change your premium based whether or not you have the Navi option, right?

I'll probably get factory Navi on my next car, so I'm just curious.

I've never had an insurance company ask if my cars have navi or not when I get insurance. How would they even know?

i'll bet.....more.
(entire car costs more, so insurance goes up)
can't think of a reason it would make it LESS...
unless they think that w/ the navi you won't get lost in a bad neighborhood and get carjacked

Hmmm, interesting, never thought having Nav would increase your insurance rate.

Doesn't the insurance premium depend on the value of the car? All other things being equal a Navi equipped TSX should be slightly more expensive to insure than one without Navi because its more valuble (theoretically $2000 more valuble when new).

Yes it will increase your insurance. Your insurance usually covers theft as well, or even if you total your car.
As for the theft, if it's stolen, a car with Nav will cost them more to replace. Thus your insurance will be higher because the car is physically worth more. Same goes for if you total it in a wreck. But it should only be a few bucks a month though unless you live in a relaly really really bad neighborhood.
