Do most shops remove the windows to tint?
So I got a quote for Formula One Pinnacle from this local tint shop. It's the only dealer in the area that does Formula One. He was saying they take out your windows when they tint them in order to do a good job. Is this something all tint shops have to do? I've never had a tint done on a car and I'm just a little weary about some guy taking the door apart? Iono maybe this is the norm and im just a little bit too much ocd about it.

I think you might have gotten confused.
Some window tinters take out the door panels to tint the window, so they can do it perfectly. I've never heard of taking off the window, don't think that's possible.
Anyway, to answer your question, shops take off the windows to tint.

Thats why im paranoid because when I asked how they do it instead of just saying we need to remove your door panels hes like we remove the window. Eh maybe he just said the wrong thing and meant door panel. Cause yea screw going to anyone whos going to remove parts that unnecessary. I wish I lived in a big city that had more options.

Make sure it is Formula One Ceramic tint. Formula One also has metalic tint which will interfere with the Navi.
And as posted above, some shops remove the door panels, I've never heard of the entire window getting removed. They should need to go that far. What are they charging in terms of labor, did they say they need to remove the windows, and then try to jack the price up?

Man that sucks. I would absolutley have them repair the damage, or pay for the bill to fix it.... Unacceptable if you ask me.
To the original poster. They should NOT take out your window, and there is no reason to take apart the door. Somebody who is a good tinter can do a perfect job with out removing anything, and it will be perfect.
To bad you don't live in minnesota.... there's a guy here who works at a shop and he does the best work I've ever seen.
