Differences between 04-05 and 06+
Just decided to sneak on over here from the TL and off-topic forums to ask you guys a question...
I know the front bumper is different from 04-05 and 06+.... and that the 06+ TSXs have a slight bump in HP due to a revised intake manifold or something? What I'm wondering is could you put a Euro R front bumper onto both an 04-05 and an 06+? I wasn't too clear on this matter.
Also, are there any external differences between the 04-05 and 06+ besides the front bumper?

The bumpers are interchangeable, but the gille dimensions changed too to match the bumpers, so you need a corresponding grille. Then, there is a piece of hood trim on the 04/05 that was removed on the 06/07, so to get a 'complete' swap you need to do the hood too. None of the dimensions of anything major changed, just the style.
Oh, and the rear bumper is slightly different as well, people have said that the rear skirts don't interchange perfectly (although they can be made to fit) they are not a direct swap.

The other real minor differences are:
- no XM antenna on back rear of roof, 04 only
- no heated side mirrors, for 04 only
- Slightly revised rear tail lights starting in 06, I can’t really see the when zipping past a 04/05.
- More angular side-marker lights, +06
- Integrated fog lights, +06
- More aggressing side sills, +06
- Low profile windshield wipers
- Everyone’s favorite, new 9 spoke alloy wheels, +06

This is a graph and explanation of some of the differences between the '04 and '06 models. From the hondata website:
"Technical
The 06 TSX has the following improvements:
Increased intake flow:
* Intake valve + 1 mm oversize
* Intake cam High lift lobe with 0.9 mm more lift and 12 degrees more duration
* Throttle body increased from 60-64mm
* Radius on some intake pipes increased from 70-80mm
Increased exhaust flow
* Exhaust Head pipe increased from 60-65mm
* Higher flow catalytic converter
* Main (single) exhaust pipe increased from 54-57mm
* Rear (twin) pipes increased in diameter from 42.5 to 45mm
Block improvements:
* Additional air passages in crankcase for reduced pumping losses
Other
* Stronger connecting rods
* New crankshaft with more counterbalance weight
* Revised pistons with more valve-piston clearance "
Just in case anyone was curious. I honestly think the main reason for the changes were due to the changes in, I think it's called "SAE regulations"? Basically, horsepower and torque numbers used to be measured more optimistically. New regulations brought those numbers down (just like with EPA regulations and mpg figures) to where the '04 TSX would no longer have "200 horsepower". I think this was a magic number, a threshold they were trying to reach, so they needed to make some improvements to reach it. I'm no expert, so please take what I write here with a grain of salt. Maybe one of our more knowledgeable members can offer a better explanation.
