Dealer Freebie 1500 Mile Service?

Dealer Freebie 1500 Mile Service?
I just picked up my TSX on Monday, and I am very impressed. Very nice.
The dealer throws in a 1500 Miles service, which to my surprise includes an oil change. This does not agree with the manual or anything I have read in these forums.
They claim that they find alot of metal particles, and thus recommend doing this 1500 Mile oil change.
I tend to think that the manual is probably the better guideline, and just skipping the 1500 Mile Free service is in order, (I know how to check fluid levels) since I believe it is better to have the beak in oil in there a bit longer. I suppose that they may be refilling the crankcase with break-in oil, but I doubt it.
Why can't the dealer and Acura just agree on the same thing, and not make me conclude who knows more about the cars??

I figured it was a nice jesture type of thing, I just want to make sure it is in the best interest of the car.
It bothers me that the manual clearly says in the break-in section to not change the oil before the specified interval, and then the dealers do that exact thing?
Thanks for the input.

It's almost like ppl debating on breaking your car hard or softly.
A lot of ppl believe the oil change for a new car is better to be frequent because of the metal deposit, but some ppl believe it's none sense.

Same situation. I took mine in to a dealership last night after getting a reminder from my dealership that I was approaching 5k and should get a change. Only had 3700, but I figured I might as well, to get ready for cold weather.
The service guy takes one look at my car and says not to bring it back until a year or 10k! Something about the new TSXs and TLs have additives in place that don't need to be replace, and that they should be given a chance to work.

Looking at the '15 TLX

I agree, but you would think that the manufacturer and the dealer could at least be on the same page, so I don't have to guess which might be right.

The entire purpose of the 1500 mile "service" is to get you back to the dealer's service deprtment so they can "inspect" the car during the "oil change" and come up with some repairs or a chance to sell you some protection packages. They never want to see you leave their dealership.
I realize the car is still under warranty but don't put it past them to try to sell you seal protection packages, etc.
On a side note, I did have to laugh when I got a post card two months after I bought my TSX saying I was due for my 10,000 mile service. That would be a hella lot of driving. Just now I am rolling 11,200 and it has been 6 months later.
They will do ANYTHING to get you back in the door. Follow the service manual. That is what it is included with the car for.
