Coating on Unsold Cars

I was out of town last week and checked out local dealers TSX stock
(Several dusty TSX - 90% no Nav)

There is this rough whitish coating on the exterior (NOT the white plastc wrap)
I wonder how that's removed, washed off ? any idea ?

I believe it's some kind of heavy wax. I don't know how they wash it off though

Just a little OT, but why don't you want rep? Or is it some twisted reverse psychological way of inciting folks to +rep you?

It peels off. I can't remember offhand what Honda/Acura calls the stuff, but it does do a good job of protecting the finish. The tricky part is along the edges tends to leave little remnants behind that are tough to see and sometimes hard to get off.

I like calling it baby fat, that stuff being on your car proves how new it is, and i love spotting it and removing it. when my dad wants me to take it off i usually use a dull razor, with meticulous care, because "baby fat" is bad, but clearcoat/paint, is good.

no wonder they always offer to detail the car. i let them wash the outside but the inside they get finger prints on the inside of the windows and its a pain to clean them, so they leave the inside alone. =P
