Coated Leather?

Is the leather portion of the seats and doors a coated leather? I believe the seats on the older TL's are and figured the TSX seats were also. I've been using 303 protectant on those areas since I can also use it on the rest of the vinyl interior also.

Does the leather area even benefit from leather conditioners like lexol, since if there is a coating the lexol isn't even touching the leather.

Probably "coated"

According to Griot's Garage at http://www.griotsgarage.com/catalog....00&L2=L2_1006:

There are two types of leather: vat-dyed and spray-on dyed leather. With vat-dyed leather, the color is obtained by immersing the hide in dye. With this process, the color penetrates completely through the leather! With spray-on dyed leather the color is "painted" on. While this produces a more even color, some of the natural grain of the hide is lost and overall life of the leather diminished. Normally, a painted-on dye will wear off at the stress points. (You may think this is just dirt build up, but on close inspection the dye will be gone.) Most of the vat-dyed leather I've seen has come out of Europe. U.S. and Japanese manufacturers tend to stick to the spray-on dyed leather.
He doesn't say anything about if sprayed-on dyed leather accepts treatments any worse than the vat-dyed kind, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Lexol will help. Just use lexol on the perforated areas and 303 on the rest and you will be fine.

Lexol cleaner/conditioner for the seats (whehre your butt, legs, and back touch, and for all of the rear seats). 303 for dash, door trim, back of the front seats.
