Clutch went out at 30K Miles
I took it to Acura and they confirm it needs a new clutch and flywheel.
Its not covered under warranty cause its a wear and tear item.
I understand it is a wear and tear item, but a clutch needing a complete replacement at 30K miles seems abnormal to me. I have only had the car for a year and am very careful about not riding the clutch. The other thing is that the clutch just all of a sudden went. The pedal seemed to have a bit of play in it about a week ago and then all of sudden it was completely gone.
I know that that the warranty does not cover normal wear and tear like brakes, but a clutch going this early seems like it was defective in some way. This just seems way out of the ordinary to me.
At any rate, the dealership is being very nice and trying to help me out and get me some goodwill help. I just bought the car from them less than a year ago. The Service Tech has been really cool and so has Acura. Acura's customer service is really good and the guys at the dealer have always been great so maybe I will luck out. No word yet though but I am keeping my fingers crossed. Pray for me!

it's a car-drive it
Sorry to hear and I hope it gets fixed as a goodwill. I see you live in DC-I have driven on 95 many of times and hit traffic in the DC area-very hard not to ride the clutch. I must being doing it right as I now have 113,000 miles on my 06 tsx. (original clutch and brakes)

boost owns
I hope you get a goodwill repair. Barring some incredibly harsh daily driving conditions, 30k is simply absurd for the stock clutch to fail. I'm at 62k (the last 10k with a supercharger, no less) and spend my share of time on the I95 parking lot, and my clutch is holding like a beast.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Thanks Guys. I actually haven't even heard from the since yesterday at around 1 PM. SO I am curious what is going on. Right now I am just trying to find the lowest price on an exedy stage 1 + flywheel in case I have to do the Job myself.

Anybody know anything about their products? Seem to be popular with the Honda Tuning crowd...
