checking oil

I noticed that on the TSX maintenace schedule it says to check the oil at every fill up. Then I checked TL maintance schedule, it doesn't say to do it. Does TSX consume oil? I know when i had a rotary engine it does, but TSX?

To those that has more than 10k miles, did you guys have add oil or just have the car oil changed, without checking?

In the first 10K miles (didn't do my first change to syhthetic until then), my TSX did not consume any of the factory oil. The oil did go down just a bit but stayed within the "good" zone on the dipstick so it never warranted topping off. This was surprising considering I have driven my TSX on several occasions, to the electronically governed maximum speed, not to mention, making it almost a daily regimen to redline the first few gears for thrills. I drive it hard and the fact that it didn't burn any oil is a testament to the engineering Honda puts into their wonderful four-bangers. Now compare this to my 01 S4... during the first 5K miles of ownership, that darned thing consumed a total of 3 quarts of the factory oil. This car holds almost 7 quarts and I never even drove it hard until about 2K miles. Most of the oil was apparently consumed during the 1K mile break-in period (about 1.5 quarts). So in less than 1K miles, it burned all that oil meanhwile, the TSX only burned a few drops during its first 10K miles!!! Amazing. I'm thinking it burned the oil because of the extreme cooling requirements of the two turbos. Still, it doesn't quite account for all that oil since after the 10K mile mark, it has barely burned any. I wonder how the TSX will fare after 20-30K or so miles on the odo.

Great thanks for the info. Glad to hear that I don't have to worry about the TSX consuming oil.

Some people have experienced oil consumption. Check this thread: http://www.acura-tsx.com/forums/show...ght=oil+change IMHO its a good idea to check the oil level periodically. Maybe not every fill up but maybe every 500 miles just to make sure things ar OK.

I've got a 10.7k miles on my car and I've noticed very little oil consumption (oil has been changed twice both time with Mobil1). Most of my miles are highway, but I've been known to spank on the car every now and then.
