CDR Issue on 6 Disc Changer. R U Having it too?
So I have a ton, and I mean a ton, of music. Some of which has been burned to a CD for play in my TSX. It works fine in other cars (2000 Grand Cherokee, 2000 GS 300 and a 2000 Toyota 4 Runner) but when i just went to my garage to listen to some of the music, the first track wont start after inserting the disc. I get a flashing "DISC" at me and that is that. Now, during that flash, if I seek to track #2 and then back to #1 everything plays fine.
The obvious issue is that I should be able to insert a disc and not have to go through those steps to hear the first track.
Am I alone?

I have many cd-r's , of various brands, and they all work perfectly in my changer. Maybe the laser in your burner is too weak? Or the cds you are using are too cheap? Try chaning cd's and/or trying burning on a diff burner if you have access to one.

'12 TL (prev '04 TSX 6MT)
Someone did an experiment with various cd burners, media, and even different burn speeds. Not sure if you can still find that with a search.
I've had problems with just one disc. Outkast: The Love Below, which I think is an enhanced CD, purchased from Circuit City last month. I copied it to a CD-R and had the same problems. It normally plays fine, but I sometimes get a disk error in the middle of a song.

Maybe try diff software. I use nero and just use the standard audio cd settings.

I use the dirt cheap CDRs from eBay, and I had absolutely no problems untill I switched software recently. I started having the same problem as described in the first post. I went back to using Nero, and everything is OK.

Check Fat Chuck's and see if these CDs are on the list.

I've had this problem on occasion with CD-Rs (only rarely bring my originals into the car-- if some dick is gonna break into my car, he should at least leave without anything of worth to show for it). Maybe it has to do with 80 minute CDs? I never use 74 anymore, even for short discs (I don't buy 74s).

I don't have this problem, mines plays CDRs just fine, but the only issues I have with the TSX's 6 disc changer is that it eats CDs and they get stuck in there. I have two CDs that I can't get out. I don't know why.

CD-R's Blocked w/ TSX Stereo
I believe your answer is in the Users Manual. My salesman also mentioned this when I bought the car (after the purchase, of course). The stereo system is built to block CD-R's. Supposedly it is built to NOT play CD-R's.
The music industry has moved to persuading car manufacturers and stereo mfg.'s to build stereos that will not play CD-R's. They moved from fighting Napster (one source where we got our music) to hitting us where we listen to our music.
I will have to re-read the users manual and find the reference for you.
Has Acura put out official announcements or fixes for the buzzing in the metal strips on the doors? I am afraid to take my car to the dealership to get it corrected in fear of them messing it up more. If Acura put out an announcement, the dealership should know how to solve it. Otherwise it's a guessing game and they might make things worse. My buzzing happens with the radio on and off and only happens on occassion (not all the time). If I put pressure on the metal strip on the door it goes away. So, I feel like my buzzing is in the metal strip. It buzzes on both front doors (driver and passenger side).

Were they CD-Rs with sticker labels? Do not ever put stickers on your cd-rs as they will melt and come off while in your changer and then get stuck.

I, too, have been able to play Memorex CD-R disks in my TSX. I burned them with 'cdrecord' on my linux desktop box. I recently got Nero. I haven't burned any disks with it yet, but it sounds like others have had success with it. I've read other threads on here about this topic which have indicated that it may be an issue with 'closing' the disk after burning, which means it can't be a multi-session burn.
Good luck...

I think the manual states that the CD player doesn't support CD-RW (read-write) discs, but it does support CD-Rs. I use CD-Rs (TDK and Memorex) with no problems -- all burned on my Mac using either Toast or iTunes.
