Cancelling Extended Warranty

I'm having buyer's remorse on getting my extended warranty that I bought with my car two weeks ago. It cost me $1,600 for 8yrs/100,000mi and took it believing it was a good deal. This forum pointed out that TSX rarely have major problem within 100,000mi period that would cost $1000+ to repair. I can use that money on more oil/tranny fluid changes. I think i have a 60 days windows to cancel.

I was wondering that too. Is the window only 60 days or can you cancel anytime before your 3year/36k miles warranty expires? Sorry to hijack your thread btw

Wouldn't make sense, otherwise someone could cancel it after 2 years and 11 months.

I also regretted getting the extended warranty, but I wasn't told about being able to cancel it. That, and alot of people at the time of my TSX purchase were posting threads asking how to get an extended warranty (thus I figured I might need it anyway). But now I know the 04 is the one with the most problems

The Acura Care brochure states that you can cancel your contract within 60 days of the purchase and get a full refund if you didn't make any warranty repairs during that period. I'll talk to a the dealership today and post it so everyone knows the procedure.

8 months?!?

Woah, woah, woah! I just picked up my TSX this past sunday and I bought the $1600 extended warranty ...the one I bought this past Sunday is only 6 years/100k.

What kind of warranty did you get? I mean who is the warranty provider? Mine is down in my car right now, so I can't grab mine. Where do you live? Maybe it's one of those California things. :-)

Overall the TSX is a pretty reliable car. However, if you look in our Problems & Fixes subforum you'll see the occasional reported problem that befell an owner once the warranty expired. Most worrisome at this point is the apparent rash of A/C failures and the high expense of repair. One option for you is to cancel your extended warranty now and then repurchase it before your standard warranty runs out. My understanding is that you can always purchase an extended warranty while you're still within your standard warranty period. The cost of the extended warranty would be dependent on the age and mileage of your car.

you can basically cancel your warranty at anytime but in order to get a full refund you have only a certain amount of time. after that it is pro-rated. If you do plan to keep it and do not have any warranty charges by the time the warranty expires you will get a full refund. read the back of the warranty paper- it should have all the information

I just came back from the Acura dealership. The cancellation went smoothly. I was expecting them to get me hassle but they didn't. All I had to do was fill out a standard form and attach the extended warranty booklet. Hope this will help all those who wants to retract buying warranty.
