Can dealer sell car with my deposit to someone else?
I placed a deposit on my CG/Ebony/6Speed/Navi in early may, and received a call from my salesman the car arrived on the 30th, and he wanted me to pick it up on the 31st. Now as a consultanta I am out of town during the week, and told him that I will pick up the car on Friday or Saturday. He then went on to suggest that in they don't like to hold cars for more than a couple of days and that they may put the car on sale I have waited almost 3 months, and they can't hold my car for 2 days!!!
Are there any legal or corporate policies dictating how long they must hold a car that a buyer has placed deposit on? I think this dude was trying to get me to sign the papers before the end of the month. I really hope the car is still there when I get there tomorrow morning. Has anybody else had similar experiences????

IANAL, but I believe they can sell the car to whomever they please, unless you have a contract with the VIN number on it. If they do sell the car that you waited for I would never buy anything from that dealer again and immediately get your deposit back.

We did sign a document, I think it said "Intent to buy" or something like that, and it listed the car that I was buying and the price that we had agreed upon. They didn't put the delivery date on it though.

I am sympathetic to your situation. However, it's a car business "thing" that sales that happen tomorrow don't exist. They may have a "hot" customer there and are following the "bird in the hand" credo.
At our store, it is expressedly stated that you have 48 hours after you are notified to finalize your transaction. After that we reserve the right to sell it. I'd tell them to FedEx the documents to you and you'll sign everything to complete the transaction.
