Buying Used 2006 TSX

Hi everybody,

I'm looking to buy a 2006 TSX black on black with navigation (not aspec). But there are a couple of things that scare me that I'm not to sure about.

The i'm planning to buy has 94,750 miles.

I'm scared that the 100k miles maintenance will break me after buying the car, since I'm not sure how much it will cost.

also, the previous owner (second owner already) said he has been putting regular 87 gas for a year now. he says nothing is wrong by doing it.

he is selling the car for $13,500.

is this car worth it? should I be worried?

Thanks for you help!

100k miles is not a lot, and I'm not aware of any special maintenance. The car has a timing chain, so no belts to replace at a certain mileage interval. Ask for any maintenance records the owner might have kept. Check the oil for proper level and color. Check the exhaust pipe for signs that it's been burning oil or otherwise running rich.

87 PON is a fine octane to run, the car will adjust timing to compensate for the lower octane rating. This is the grade I purchase since I do not run my engine hard and don't need the small performance benefit of higher octane.

Impossible to say if $13,500 is worth it without looking, but I would offer $12,200 and work up to say $12,700.

i worked it down from 14.5k

sorry for the dumb question but what do you mean by PON?

and how do i check to see if the exhaust has been burning oil or running rich?

thanks!

I am in the same boat. I am looking to buy a 06 TSX w/navi. It's at a Toyota dealer and they have had it for 2 months. The sticker price was $16,999, but the internet price is $12,999. I had my mechanic look it over and it is in good shape except for replacing the struts in a few months and 90,000 mile service fluid flushes. They are missing the floor mats and the navigation disc.
Struts-$600
Fluids- $330
Nav Disc$150
Acura Floor Mats $200
Total $1280

There last offer was $11,999

The car has a Q Certified warranty until 100,000miles. Current miles 96,000

Is this a good offer?

Q Certified warranty is a powertrain warranty. Engine, transmission, and drivetrain.

If you can do your own struts you can probably save $300. Fluids might be $100. I'd just download the nav disc because nobody should be paying for such an inferior and over-priced piece of garbage. Acura floor mats-meh. Seems like a decent deal to me. Warranty is worthless since 4k miles will go by in a heartbeat.

I recently bought a 2005 TSX, 6MT non-nav for 13.5k with 67500 mi. The car was in immaculate condition, service was all done at dealer and was female driven.

Ask for records and don't jump the gun when buying this beauty!
