Buying TSX in Toronto

Hello,
I am intersted to buy TSX but I have couple of questions.

What dealership can you recommend in GTA? I have found this thread
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...iation+Toronto
but it is pretty old so can I still go by what is suggested there?

I tried to research the car as much as I can and the worst problems I found were: driver seat moving 1/2 when stopping hard and rattles and noises that can occur early on. Is situation better with 2005 model or is it too early to tell?

I also read that it is better to get TSX built in Japan not US, can I demand Japanese build car from dealership? How can I tell if car was made in Japan?

I have found this thread on negotiation
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...ht=negotiation
is there anything else I should know be fore going to dealer?

I was thinkg of following setup (I know it's automatic and I wish I could go for manual but I am going to share the car with my mom and she wouldn't go for manual):
2005 TSX with Automatic Transmission $36,100.00
Protection Package (includes trunk tray and floor mats) $391.31
Metal Look Trim Kit $479.25
Front Skirt $693.22
Side Skirts $725.35
Rear Skirt $568.87
Rear Wing Spoiler $651.32
Fog Lights $691.10
$40,300.42
Freight / PDI: $1,200.00
$41,500.42

What do you think? Can I ask dealer for nice discount (I think nice is ~$2000.00) because I want all those extra features?

Also is Extended warranty worth it?

don't have any input, but you definitely sound more like your 14-15.

There's some good info about buying a 2005 TSX in Toronto in this thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17811

All TSXs are built in Japan, so that shouldn't be a worry for you.

I can't comment on the moving seat or the rattles, but the seat should not move (it can be tightened, I'm sure), and there are many other threads on rattles.

You've specified over $4,200 of options and accessories for your TSX. You might be able to get some of those cheaper from other sources or installed separately. A $2,000 discount might be possible, but I think that might be a bit optimistic.

Re: the extended warranty, I would consider how long I intend to keep the car and how comfortable I am without having one.

Good luck!

I had my 04 model for almost 2 months and dont have any problems with it...no rattles and problems as listed from others....

Pretty much all the things should be fixed already. If not, they should be easily fixed by the dealer...

In terms of price...a few members got a good deal from Acura in markham.....check this out https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...1&page=1&pp=25 ... i somewhere from page 3 on, a few guys got a good deal.

Dont get the OEM kit from the dealer....they charge way way too much....u can pick it up from other members from here or even from the states. Same as foglights...for $600+ they are prone to cracking....better to get them for $300US (cant remember where, but if u do a search, u'll find where most of the members got them from)

Extended warranty....it all depends whether u r going to buy the car and tend to keep it for a long time or not...but more often than not, the extended warranties are not worth it.

You should able to get at least $2300 discount just on the car itself. And you can order all the rest of addon from ebay which is way way cheaper than get it from local dealer. I got my full OEM kit for $830US and OEM fog for $230US, so after shipping and duties, I still save more than half. And any local auto shop will able to put that on for you. So dun let the stealer steal your money! I paid $1000 tax in for my 7yr 140000km extended warranty. I dun think a Honda that made in Japan will break down in 10 yr but dunno about that fancy cd changer and other fancy stuff on our car... well, it is still a first year production model!

I do not recommend Acura in Markham (especially Michael London, the Assitant Sales Mgr), North Toronto Acura nor Sherway Acura, simply based on personal experience. All unprofessional and did not want to sell their cars.

I've had good experience with Acura Woodbine (talk to Sales Mgr Alan Silverberg). Very straight up guy. Tell him Fred referred you. I've also heard a lot of good things about Acura 2000 in Brampton.

P.S. You need to work on your prices tho.

Good luck!

i will agree with you that north toronto and sherway are garbage....but why markham? mike was a good guy to deal with. what problems did you have? you say he didnt want to sell the car; what did you offer him?

i actually didnt like alan at woodbine. they struck me as cheesy and i didnt want to deal with them.

Acura Brampton is good. I bought my 2005 in October and got pickup on November 30th from the Brampton dealership although I live in the east-end the of GTA. It's worth the drive, in my opinion.

Lemme know if you're interested and I can refer you. Or if you'd rather me provide more details, I can do that too.

t_dot_porkchop: Michael London was trying to sell me an 04 Demo (6 spd) for $35600 on the road. He would not budge on the price, despite I put in an offer (and subsequent sweetened offer), when you can get brand new from other dealership for $36300. I didn't like his attitude. He's selling that demo as if it's in brand new conditions. What a joke! Wasted my time.

Alan (Woodbine) was a very straight up guy. I would have bought from him, but the color wasn't right for me.

North Toronto was the worst of them all.

I agree with FastFreddy on the pricing. With all that you're buying... you should get some more discounts. For your info, I managed $1,900 off the $36.1K MSRP back in early October. I also got other discounts off rust/paint/fabric proofing, winter mats, and free trunk tray. All in all, I got about $2,600 off everything.

With the amount of extra's you're buying you should be able to get around $2K at the current time. Maybe more... make sure to shop around regardless of the praise and flack the various dealers are getting on this board. Everyone has a different experience. Invest the time if you wanna earn a buck.

Cheers.

drphilmd, by Acura Brampton you mean Acura 2000, right? It would be great if you could give me a referal. My plan is to send out e-mails to dealerships asking for a qoute in second half of December and on December 30 I will actually go dealerships with best offer.

Based on your responses guys I have changed my options list a bit:
2005 TSX with Automatic Transmission $36,100.00
Metal Look Trim Kit $479.25
total: $36,579.25

What else will be included in the price? I know about Freight / PDI, taxes of course and there is also some administration charge which is apperently a total BS, but what else?

I also have a trade in, it's a 2002 Golf GLS. It has cold weather package (heated seats and mirrors) and a luxury package (sun roof, 15" rims). It has only 38,000km but was hit from behind (bumper replaced) and a f@cking construction sign fell on it also fixed. How much do you think I can get for it?

2004 TSX on the road I'd expect for the big negotiators to get somewhere between $37K - $38K. Under $37K is a steal. If someone got that deal - please be my friend.

Just a friendly advice, dealers don't take email or phone inquires/quotes seriously.

1. Go down to their dealerships and lay down a deal (and walk away if they can't give you your price).

2. Get a car broker to get you a car. Tell him what price you are willing to pay and see if he can do it. A lot of times they are able to get you better deal than the dealers.

3. On your trade-in, if you don't mind the hassle, I would try and sell it privately. Cuz dealers would only screw you on yr trade-ins. You'd be disappointed with their trade-in value. But, worth a try.

Still unsure what color combo you're getting, but the Ebony (or black) interior already comes with a nice metallic look trim. Parchment comes with ugly fake wood trim (in my humble opionion).

Agreed. Dealers deal face-to-face. They're not big on the emails and phone calls. Otherwise they'd transact over the internet... like here!

As for your question on Acura Brampton ... yes I meant Acura 2000.

The reason I was thinking of sending e-mails is because of this thread
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...ht=negotiation

Metal Look Trim Kit gives you metal on your central consol in addition to the dashboard and door metal.

The color for car I want is graphite pearl with ebony interior I think you can see picture of car like that on this page

i got my 2004 SSM/5AT last month for $36,990.01 on the road (thats $30741.22 before fees and taxes).

i truly do not believe that you can get a new TSX for $36300 on the road.....(unless its a demo, scratched or something else is up with it).

Trust me, t_dot_porkcop. Call Alan Silverberg. He's got a brand new, unscratched, nothing with it 04 TSX he's willing to sell for $36300 on the road. It's 6 spd, black on tan. The car was still available as of Dec 3. Not lying to you.

Undoubtedly, you've got a great deal already. $36990 on the road is one of the best prices.

In order for the "fax attack" to work, you must know exactly what you want, and be very detailed about your request, like giving out the package number, etc. etc.

If you are vague in the slightest way, you will not be taken seriously.

Yes 1st two maintenance if free....one more reason to stay away from Acura in Markham....

While i was negoiating a deal....they said "tell you what...we'll toss in the 1st two maintanance services free !!! ..."

Afterwards i found out it was free to begin with for everyone.......

i saw that car on the lot in late october....$36300 would have been great. but i decided against the black because of the tan interior. the extra $700 i paid is worth the black interior on the SSM.

great deal though for someone looking for a black TSX!!!!!!

1. Acura in Markham
2. North Toronto
