Buying from dealer vs. Private seller
I was thinking about getting a used TSX, but I don't know if I should buy one from a private seller or a certified one from a dealer. I can't really afford a brand new one =\
I think I can get a warranty through the dealer, but does the original warranty transfer over if I buy from a private seller? I think I could save a couple grand from paying taxes if I don't get it from the dealer right? And I could use that money to pay to get it inspected right?

The warranty is transferrable.
There are many pros and cons, but if you wish to purchase from a private seller, make sure you check EVERYTHING before you pull that loan from the bank.

Price difference is a number 1 thing between dealers and private.
When you mentioned dealers, is it an Acura dealer or a local used car dealer?
With Acura dealers, they usually included the 7/100k warranty on their used cars. Local dealers doesn't.
Private sellers you can alway negotiate prices to rock bottom.
Also, if you're financing APR on private sales and dealers are usually about 1/2 %.
Hope this helps

Yeah I meant from an Acura dealer. Would it be better to buy the car from a private seller and have it inspected by Acura? I mean, it would still be under warranty and whatnot. Also, is the original Acura warranty automatically transfered?

The car will always have it's factory 4 yr 50K mile warranty (or whatever it is). You can then buy an Acuracare warranty from an Acura dealer like Curry Acura. They sell the 7 yr 100K mile warranty for something like $1,100.

I recently bought my 04 TSX AT Navi from a private seller after seeing the prices the Acura dealers charge for their Certified used TSXs ($25k for similar 04 TSX).
In a private sale, what kind of car you would get depends on the owner and how well he/she took care of the vehicle.
Original Factory warranty is transferrable at no charge.
As far as the extended 7yr/100k warranty goes, Cury Acura gave me the best quotes. The price of the extended warranty will depend on the mileage of the car at the time of purchase of the extended warranty. For a 04 TSX with mileage between 30,001 and 40,000 will cost $1260. They told me for mileage of 40,001~50,000 is about $120 more.
You can't get away from paying sales taxes unless you are trading vehcles of equal value with the other private party. I paid nearly $2k in tax to the DMV for my TSX.
For inspection, I highly recommend CarFAX. They were cheap ($100), fast, and comprehensive.
