Bizarre encounter with Audi on Turnpike
So I'm driving to NYC from Philadelphia. At the beginning of the trip on the PA turnpike, this fast driving A4 (looked new) comes up from behind me. I'm driving 80mph, so he's clearly over 85mph. After a while, he dissapears from my sight. I think nothing of it and keep driving. As I approach NJ, I see this A4 parked on the side of the turnpike. I tell my wife, 'Hey, doesn't that car look like the same A4 that passed us awhile ago?'
Later, we are on the NJ turnpike, halfway to NYC. Suddenly, I see this A4 in the rear view mirror approaching. I'm thinking it must be the same A4 from before. The A4 passes me, but it is not more than 50yards in front of me when it suddenly slows down and moves to the side of the road to park. I'm thinking, hmmm, what's going on with that guy's car?
About 30 minutes later, we are within sight of NYC on the turnpike, and lo and behold, I see the same A4 approaching me from the rear view mirror. The A4 passes me, but it is not even 2 car lengths ahead of me when, you guessed it, it slows dramatically and pulls to the side of the road again!
Pretty bizarre. What could it be?
A) Electrical problem
B) Fuel pick up problem
C) The driver likes to keep the turnpikes clean, so he stops the car everytime he sees litter on the road and picks it up.
D) The TSX is equipped with some type of electronic jamming device against Audi's.

I read several reviews on the A4 when I was shopping for a car...I think it was Car & Driver on a long term test of the car that had it shut down on them in a strange manner on a couple of occasions...then they'd stop and start it back up and it would run fine.
I think it was Consumer Reports that said they were stranded three times by their A4. That was enough for me to go with the TSX...I'd bet he was having some sort of electrical problem. Too bad that the Germans have let quality and reliability slip so much.

the 2001 and 2002 have had problems with coilpacks and had a recall.
but, once it goes bad, it stays bad.

the guy was obviously on a road trip with his g/f and after seeing the TSX everytime she got so turned on that she couldn't resist giving a little highway action and the a4 driver being so considerate as to not risk hitting into the TSX while gettin some decided to pull over....it's a no brainer

Must be a pretty considerate driver if he pulls over for a phone call. I would think anyone driving that fast would also not bother to pull over for a phone call.

NY has the same law, and while I use a handsfree device, it's amazing how many people are ignoring it; it's been in effect for like the last 3 years, too...

Don't hate on the Audi. I traded the TSX for an A4. The TSX is a very nice car. But it is not as smooth as the TSX.
