A bit premature...
Hi All; I switched from a Pathfinder 4WD to the TSX. The P-finder was getting a little long in the tooth, and started having problems (it's a '97). I did the SUV thing, and was ready to rejoin the world of lower fuel prices/less guilt. I'm worried now, however, about how the TSX handles on the snow. My job requires quite a bit of travel (okay, it's all travel, but at least it's not sales!), and because I work in a clinical setting, I can't just tell an account I won't be there because of snow (if it's a blizzard (we get 'em in NY), I can certainly bag off). Anyone have any experience in driving in 1/2"-6" of snow? I'm sure the 6" figure is a bit offputting, there is rarely that much snow on the ground (unless it's a Noreaster, in which case, I won't be on the road anyway), but worst case scenario. I've still got the Pfinder just for this purpose...the 4wd is unmatched in my expereience, but if I can see it, thusly reducing my overhead and guilt of neglecting the pfinder for 7-8 months a year), I'd appreciate it.

I did a winter in Jackson Hole in a Civic...I'm hoping that the TSX front-wheel-drive setup will handle as well as my Civic did. Never lost control ONCE in that thing, even with 400" of snow that winter.

Well, if we have to talk about snow, then so be it...
The TSX is the best car I've had yet in snow. I used to own Accords before. It probably does not outhandle a Pathfinder, but if you equip it with snow tires, it'll get along better than a Pathfinder with all-season tires on.
The VSA system is very apt, and works well in sevre conditions.
Oh and what you got against sales trips?

Hey soopirV900,
I don't think you should be concerned with the TSX's lack of 4WD.
Afterall, ask yourself how many times did you really need 4WD last winter? I suspect only a handful.
I agree with sauceman's assessment. If you run snows, you'll probably perform better than an SUV with all season tires. With snows, you'll probably handle 99.9% of the conditions you'll experience.
I found myself beating a path on one snowy morning for a convoy of SUVs on Hwy#401.
I got chuckle that morning when none of the SUVs wanted to take lead.
So, my little snow tire equiped Integra lead the way.

Hey,
Another New Yorker here, Last winter the TSX was great in the snow, we didnt get too much but she handled it, only got stuck once, (comming up my own driveway none the less, slippin on a patch on ice) but I even managed to get outta that one w/ out too much effort,
One thing i would recomend though is gettin better tires, the OEM ones wernt bad, but i havent had great experence w/ them, and they have a lousy tread design, or as the other guy said snow tires (but then you dont get to put on your own little drifting exibition from time to time )
Have fun, and congrats on the TSX man

4 high quality snow tires will do wonders for any car in the winter. I've regularly driven FWD, RWD, and AWD cars; a good set of snows transform the car.
The other thing to remember is snow will in fact be slippery again this winter...for some reason people tend to forget that every summer.

Sauceman- Haa haa haa, It's not that I don't respect sales guys, but I could never do it; I don't like the uncertainty involved in "trying to hit the numbers".
PS- Thanks for the advice everyone...
