Best bulb for driving at night?

Carbon Bronze Pearl 2008
Sticking with the OEM HID is usually the best in most cases for most light. The more "tint" of the HID the less effectiveness of the bulb. It may look cool, but less effective.

The OEM 4200k bulb is outstanding. If you go any lower than that, you'll get that yellowish tint, any higher and you'll get a bluish tint eventually turning to purple. And while they may look brighter, the actual lumen output is lower. I really noticed it on my last car. I went from the stock bulbs to Silverstars which have a higher color temperature (not 4200k, but a lot closer than regular old halogen.) At the same wattage, they were a heck of a lot brighter.

OEM HID 4300K are great.
And overtime, they actually turn whiter/bluer.
I remember when I first got the car, the HID's emitted a white/yellow hue, but now its more blue/white hue to it.
