Belzebutt and I Traded Cars
I met with Belzebutt yesterday, I bought his OEM tires so that I could melt through them next summer.
Belzebutt hadn't ever tried the 6MT yet, so there was his opportunity. BTW, sorry man if it was soo filthy, I hadn't planned for it and the car wasn't prepared at all.
Well anyway, I can now see how my car is aging in a few ways. At some point, Belzebutt really stepped on it while I was following, and out came this huge brownish cloud of smoke! I had rarely seen this even from a riced out (and beaten) Civic. Something is wrong, but I was already suspecting this, and my dealership is aware of this too, but it looks like some engine work may be in order in the year to come, we'll see.
The suspension is also becoming somewhat wobbly. I could tell the difference in Belzebutt's car, it was much firmer. I must admit I drive often with pretty heavy loads. It's starting to take it's toll.
Belzebutt's car is awesome. For starters it was spotless, interior and exterior. But also, entering the car, that new car smell is still there. That was like a refreshing breeze! I was very impressed with the way the 5AT acts: The shifts are impressively quick for an AT, smooth and precise. Very different from the AT I had in my 95 Accord. The RonJon wheels and tire combo added a very nice feel too. Oh, and no squealing either. My worn OEMs have become very whiny. Accelerating is pretty good too, better than I expected.
So that was a fun ride. Hope you didn't get hit by too many while we were out driving, I forgot to put the tomato basket somewhere else for the drive, hehehe

I thought it was common for higher mileage cars to blow puffs of smoke out the exhaust when gunned, just from buildup in the exhaust piping?
And surely you don't still have OEM Michelins with the mileage on your TSX?

I'm currently finishing the wear down on my second set.
My previous Accords never puffed out clouds of smoke, even past 500,000km. That's a first to me. At least the cloud wasn't smelling foul like it had a lot of oil in it. It was just slightly smelly. You could be right about it being soot blown out of the exhaust.
BUt I do have a (slight) problem with oil consumption though.

I had a 99 Accord that, at 95,000 well cared for miles, would blow soot out of the exhaust at WOT from time to time. Never had an issue with the engine, though.
How many US miles does your TSX have again?

From my experience, cosmetic things wear out with years. Mechanical things wear out with miles. His TSX should still be in great cosmetic shape, even if it needs some mechanical work.

You do realize we just went out for a ride in each other's cars right? He said he hadn't yet tried a 6MT, so I offered him to try mine.
His car is a 2004. Those models in didn't have navi or xm satellite.

We indeed drove each other's TSX and I can confirm that Sauceman had over 194000 km on his odo at the time.
10x more than me, for a car perhaps 2x older.
I did like the 6MT, I thought it would ruin the 5AT for me but I still like it. Since it wasn't my car and Sauceman likes to keep baskets full of tomatoes on the front seat (to discourage people from driving agressively, no doubt) I couldn't really gun it.
I hope I didn't mess up the car too much?
Rattle wise, the car did not feel any more noisy than mine. The interior definitely has more wear and tear, the steering wheel especially, but that's to be expected with the amount of use it gets. I've also been keeping mine very clean lately so that's probably why the difference felt greater.
Sauceman definitely needs new tires and probably new suspension.
