auto seat belts
has any one noticed that if you accelerate hard from 1st gear the seat belts lock and wont let you move forward....kinda cool i just noticed this last night

Ditto here. Most seat belts have an inertial locking machinism. It picks up changes in inertia and locks itself when there is large decceleration or acceleration. Others just lock themselves in and you gotta breathe in a little, tug on it then it retracts. Seems kind of dangerous now that I think about it.

Pulling it ALL the way out (while sitting in the seat) then let it rewind.
You *should* find that it locks in place until you release the belt and let it completely rewind.
This is also standard on most cars and is intended to hold car seats in place. I guess if you tied someone's hands together (so they couldn't release the belt) it could also be handy for keep someone from...oh, nevermind. Pretend I didn't type that.
