audio question: 2008 ex-l vs. 2008 tsx
I am considering both the 08 accord coupe ex-l and the 08 tsx. I noticed that the tsx has a little more power with the factory audio system than the accord, and one additional subwoofer. presumably, the speakers are the same with the extra power coming from the extra woofer. is this a fair assumption? has anyone really been able to compare the two? I've driven the accord, and will drive the tsx in the next couple of days, but I won't exactly be able to A/B demo them. thanks in advance.

I test drove both accord coupe v6 ex-l and 09 tsx non-navi before I got my tsx. I think the audio on accord is much worse than that of the tsx.
My previous car is Infiniti I30 which carries a Bose audio system and the audio on accord is worse than my I30 and tsx's feels a lot better.

Actually, I think this belongs in the 2G area. The 08 has the 8 speaker system with no sub. The 09 has the EL-S audio system with the sub. The stereo in the 08 isn't bad. Better than some, but not as good as others. Not sure about the EX-L though.

are you sure? according to my local dealer, the 2008 has an 8 speaker audio system with 2 subs (similarly, the 2008 accord coupe ex-l comes standard with a 7 speaker system with 1 sub). is the website just wrong?

why would the accord's premium system have one and the acura's not?

I'm sure the 08 has no sub. It has 6 1/2s in the front and rear doors, 2" tweeters mounted in the dash and 2 6x9s in the rear deck. Don't get me wrong, it is a very nice sounding system, but there's a pretty obvious lack of low end.
As to why Honda went that route and put the nicer system into the Accord, only they can answer that question. By time you load up that EX-L with all the options that are standard on the TSX it does cost a bit more if that's any consolation. And the TL (the next model up from the TSX) has the optional EL-S audio system with the sub. And they've added that to the 09. From what I can tell, the audio system hasn't been revamped since 2003 (when the first model came out as an 04.) Maybe that has something to do with it???
By the way, there's more errors in that description. The TSX does not have the remote sunroof, that's on the TL. It's not a 1 touch either. I wish it was, but it's not. Also (and you can see this in the pictures) it has the ebony interior, so it has the aluminum trim, not the simulated wood trim the description says. I'm sure there's other errors, I'm really just pointing out that dealer description has other flaws so it doesn't surprise me they got that wrong too.
But don't let that be too much of a factor in your decision. Its a good car. I liked the TSX better than the Accord. More power than the Accord 4, better gas mileage than the V6. Better handling, better road feel. Overall, I liked the whole package better. Oh, and the Acura CPO warranty is supposed to be bumper to bumper 5yr/62k miles, powertrain 7yr/100k miles. The web site you referenced showed the original factory warranty.

I believe the two 6x9's in the rear deck are only fed low frequencies. Therefore, they act as subwoofers.
90% of the time, the stock system in my '04 does it for me. Every now and then something I listen to will highlight areas the system lacks in, but I get over it.
I think it all depends on your taste in music.
