Attention Mugen front grill owners!!!

hey guys, i have two quick questions...

is the mugen grill any lighter than the stock grill?

and if it is lighter, where is the best place to buy one and how long is the install?

I'm definetely going to buy a mugen grill if it has some performance value too from weight reduction.

I doubt there would be more than a couple pounds weight difference. They're both plastic, aren't they?

but you might see some substantial weight reduction gains from taking off the A badge........... w00t w00t! WOOOOOOT! but please! someone who has both, try weighing them on your bathroom scale and let me know! If it's at least 2lbs lighter than stock, I'll take it!!!!

2lbs difference is like, you might as well not eat lunch. Unless you're really planning on extreme weight reduction you'd really have to take out a lot of crap to make an at all noticeable difference. Other than that, you're better off not worrying about a couple of pounds here and there except maybe on wheels. My butt dyno tells me that my car is pretty much exactly as fast with my slightly lighter wheel/tire combo as it was before, except it pulls much better off the line due to the reduced wheel hop from better tires.

The Mugen Grill definitely lighter than OEM Grill. I had lifted Mugen Grill & then lifted the OEM. Seriously nobody will get a Mugen Grill for performance. Just for the Look. If you want your money bang for the bucks. Compare the price with performance ratio, get a CAI or Header for around the same price. Those will even give you more HP.

lol.... what?! the mugen grill doesn't add 20+ hps from the increased airflow?!?! jk... yeah, im planning on intake, light weight wheels, header, and etc.... but hey... if you can shed a few lbs while looking good, why not do it for both performance and cosmetics? sure an extra 2 -5 lb loss isnt going to make a big difference... but 2 -5 lbs loss from the grill.... 30 - 35 lbs loss from wheels... and etc etc will hopefully add up to make a difference in the end

Dude, I am stuipd enough & too much time to waste, I went & grab the OEM in my garage & weight it.
The OEM Grill was within 2lbs. I think you should get the idea & stop asking now.

So your purchase decision's based on how much weight it sheds? That's a first..

I would be surprised if there was a difference of 1 pound...so I think many people feel it is crazy to base a decision to purchase for a 1 pd weight reduction. Save 2 bills and take a shit before you get in the car....Problem solved!

If you can shed enough weight, you can make your TSX almost as fast as a Ferrari Enzo. It just takes a little time and a Sawzall...

i guess everyone has their own opinions.... putting on lighter grill to save 3 - 5 lbs is not ridiculous to me ..... I didn't want this much attention to this thread, all i wanted to know was if anyone weighed the two grills and what the weight differences are.... dang lol

I agree...where did you get an estimate of 3 - 5 pds? That is not the difference in weight.......
Stock grill weighs roughly two pounds, does that make the Mugen grill a negative weight now????

i didn't get that estimate..... when i intially posted this, i had no idea that the stock grill was only 2lbs. I was "hoping" to save 3 - 5lbs. dang, you guys are going nuts on me. i was considering buying the grill and since it was from mugen, i thought maybe it was much lighter than the stock one.

they're both made of plastic, there's only so much weight you could save on such a small piece. 3-5lbs very important for a wheel, not so important for the body. and as far as weighing your car, its easier to just find a truck scale that's free to use. we happen to have one here at a coal plant near school so the club here uses that to weigh cars.
