ARGH!!! Someone hit my car in the parking lot today...

Went to have lunch with my friends, catch the US v. Italy World Cup game, and watch Cars. Parked the car far away from the crowds as I usually do. Came back and found someone had scratched up my drivers side rear bumper. Doesn't look like any damage was done to the quarter panel, but the paint on the bumper is totally done for.

Worst of all, the motherfucker didn't even leave any information. In fact, I'll bet they didn't even realize that they had hit my car.

I fucking hate people who do damage to other people's cars and don't fess up to it. I hope the person that did this ends up getting their car towed, keyed, or a door bashed in. That's just not cool...

My co-worker came in late one time, and said that she just saw someone hit another person's car. The person then went out, tried to clean off the scratch/damage/paint, and then left.

People are either uninsured, or they're paying too much for insurance and don't want it to go higher =/

No, the rim came that way when I bought it. I just use these during the summer anyway and I'm not really all that concerned about their appearance. The car, on the other hand, I am highly pissed that someone hit it.

I examined it in a little more detail when I got back here to my place and the guy must have hit it at an odd angle because he was able to scratch the entire crease that runs along the lower half of the bumper and then the trailing edge of the wheel arch.

Come to think of it, I should have examined the car of the guy that was parked next to me to make sure that it wasn't hit car that hit mine.

Sorry to hear it man. Hopefully that a-hole will get his comeuppance. I've noticed a disturbing trend of people insisting on parking right next to a car even though there's plenty of empty spaces. I park far away too, but a lot of times I'll come back and sure enough some turd is parked right next to me.

Do you have a steep deductible?

I've notice that too. I'll park at the farthest spot available, and there'll be a whole bunch of available parking spaces nearby. By the time I get to my car later, it's surrounded by cars, with many free spots available closer to the entrance.

I think they just want to park near a nicer car because they know we'll take care not to hit other cars.

This happened with my civic - twice. However I caught the first MF that did it. He couldn't see me in the car (Was waiting on the ex while she ran into the grocery store) and he glanced at it and proceeded to walk off. It was rather interesting when I got out of the car and asked him about it. He paused for a brief minute and then came clean with what happened. The second time this happened some bastard left a huge red stripe across the left corner of my rear bumper. Ever since then I've been paranoid about parking my car in any parking lot......

Everytime when I look for parking, I tried to park between better cars and stay far away from old beaten up cars. I did get a ding and scratch on my driver door, scratch was remove, but the ding is still there, w/ paint.

That's sad. I can definitely understand you. I visit regularly WalMarts for my job and I swear this has to be the worst place to get your car damaged in a parking lot.

yeah, sorry to hear dude. Watch your paint...i think you need to refine your wash/detail technique. Swirls hurt me just as much as scratches do.

I will when I can actually wash it properly. My apartment complex doesn't allow car washing and doesn't even provide hose connections on the outside of the buildings. Plus, I can't even find a do it yourself carwash place nearby. This area is atrociously bad for people who actually want to take care of their cars.

actually, it should be worded "the BEST place to get your car damaged in a parking lot."
