Anyone buy Acura Care warranty online?

I just bought my new 05 Milano Red, navi, parchment, auto TSX today and the finance guy tried to sell me a warranty that is supposed to be "better" than Acura Care b/c it's on a brand new car. He kept insisting that Acura Care is not as good b/c it is for used cars. Is there any truth to this? My understanding is that Acura Care is the same warranty dealers sell on brand new cars as well as on used cars.

Anyway, they tried to sell me the 7 yr 100K mile, 0 deductible warranty at $1,980 with an indication that they would come down to $1930 if I bought some other add ons. Of course, I declined.

A search in this forum revealed this website: www.curryacuracare.com which sells the Acura Care 7 yr 100K mile, 0 deductible warranty for only $1,235. I also received an e-mail indicating they would deduct another $100 through the end of the year, bringing the price down to only $1,135.

Has anyone purchased a warranty from them? Are they reputable? Any other reputable online dealers selling Acura Care warranties for a good price?

Acura is a good car. You probably don't need an extended warranty.

check these guys out.

clicky click

to me acura care warranty is acura care warranty. doesnt matter where you purchased it, any acura should be able to take care of you if you have it.

dont buy the aftermarket warranties from other companies...esp for 1900...that is a major ripoff.

I got my 7yr 160000km full coverage warranty(with road side assistant) for $880+tax in Toronto when I picked up my car from the dealer. So $1900 US sure is a ripoff!

Yup, just like buying a car, the price of the warranty is also negotiable. Acura Care is not only for used cars (neither is Honda Care, which I have for my Si), so I'm sure he was just taking you for a ride.

Thanks. I'll be ordering my warranty through Mission Viejo Acura, but maybe I'll wait a couple of years.

The dealer didn't try to sell an aftermkt warranty. There were just trying to convince me that the Acura Care warranty they were selling on a brand new car is somehow different than the Acura Care warranty I can buy after I drive the car off the lot. Turns out to be complete BS.

I too would liek to know the cheapest price that someone paid for the extended warrenty. I know I will be putting tons of miles on the tsex very quickly and will probably get it in the future before the factory 50k warrenty runs out.

My dealership tried to sell me the extended warrenty for $1500. i said helllll no.

I paid about $900US for my HondaCare 7yr/100k warranty on my Si. I'm not sure whether it varies between Honda and Acura, but I would think they should be priced very similarly since it's the same parent company.

I should've passed on the warranty, they still hassle me about warranty coverage when I take my car in, even though it's not even modded.

I bought a $0 deductable 60000 warranty fro my son's '97 CL when we bought it with 49000 miles in 2002. The waranty was through WarrantyGold & the cost was $1100. We used it for about $1000 in repairs and then teh company went BK due to their administrator going BK. I will NEVER again buy an aftemarket warranty. WarrantyGold was one of the best backed aftermarket warranties in the business. My opinion, get it through the manufacturer if you need one. It does not take much in repairs to cover $1100 in insurance cost.

So far, I've found that Curry Acura and Acura of Mission Viejo both charge around $1140 for 7 yrs 100K no deductible factory backed Acura Care warranty on a new TSX. I also checked on a used TSX (one that is hypothetically 2 yrs old with 25K miles) and I think Mission Viejo Acura charges about $1230 or $1250. So, waiting a bit doesn't seem to drastically increase the cost of the warranty.

The prices are different not only btw Honda and Acura, but btw each specific car. This is reasonable considering that the TSX has many more things that can go wrong (navi, HIDs vs. halogens on the Si, 6 speed trans vs. 5 speed, etc.) and would likely cost more to repair. That said, the internet prices btw Honda Care and Acura Care are similar for similarly priced models.

The Honda Care warranty for my wife's similarly priced Honda Pilot costs about the same as the Acura Care warranty for the TSX.
