Anybody ordered a TSX lately?
On May 21, 2004 I placed an order at the local dealership for a 6MT non-navi CGP/QZ TSX. The dealer did a search to see if I could get the car from another dealer - but none were available, so they had to order one. Roughly a week or so went by and I got a call from my salesman...he said that my car should be built around the second week in June and that I could probably take delivery sometime mid-July. He said he would keep me posted as he learned about ETAs and such.
Well, I called him both last week and again today to ask about my car b/c I hadn't heard from him in a while. He says he doesn't have any updated information - but guesses the car is built and on its way. I really would have thought they would have exact build and ship dates. I realize Acura probably doesn't ship cars daily from Japan, but I would have thought that within the last 3 weeks they would have shipped cars and my dealer would know if my car, if built, was on one of the boats.
I'm beginning to wonder if I even have a car...and if the dealership is playing me. When I ordered the car, I gave them a $500 deposit. That check has never been cashed. I don't want to be an a$$hole about it, but come on...I'm tempted to go past there and ask for the paperwork and perhaps the VIN.
So, I guess I am wanting to know if anybody on here ordered a car sometime around the same time as me, and if your dealership has given you any updated information. Or, am I just being too paranoid about the whole thing?
Thanks for any info.

Can't wait to drive
I did not order my TSX recently, but as a comparison, I ordered during the last week of September of last year, and my car finally got delivered on November 14, 2003. A lot of time goes into the ordering process..initial ordering time, assembly, (boat) delivery, Customs inspection, and (truck) delivery, and dealer inspection.

a friend of mine ordered a Dodge truck custom built with the necessary options that he wants, and when it came in on the sticker says "cutom built for Mr. so and so" isn't that cool, hope your car has the same thing on the sticker

Keep in mind when the boat with your car arrives in port, the dealer knows it's in port but can not tell when it will be put on the train then truck and delivered to the dealer. Be patient, I had to and it was worth it. The moment you stop thinking about when you'll get it, you'll get it.

It takes between 4 and 6 weeks from when your dealer puts in the order to when the dealer actually has the car for pick up. I put $1000 down to reserve mine and they didnt actually take the money out of my bank till about a week after I had been driving the car. They only take the deposit to make sure you are really serious about ordering/buying one. Seeing that it's been about 4 weeks visit the dealer and see if they have any info on the car. They should have something on it by now.
