Anybody get their brakes powder coated?
Just wondering if anyone ever did that to their calipers. My calipers I painted last summer are finally showing its durability. Even with 4 coats of color and 3 coats of clear, they're chipping away slowly in the front. I think the salty roads and the change of temperature took its toll. I know some of you powder coated the engine cover, wondering if anyone did that to their brake caps, and how much might that cost. Maybe they could powdercoat ACURA in white permanently over it too?

mmmmmm....
Why bother? Are you actually going to take out the whole break and take it to the shop to get powdercoated? Is your tsx DD or weekend ride? I just think its waste of time, money, and bbk wanna be. I would rather save up and get the real bbk. Someone was selling Brembo bbk for $1200 shipped on BM, you should check it out.

Just use better caliper paint.
I'm betting you just used some paint.
Not G2.
G2 Caliper Paint is an epoxy that lasts much longer than the rest
of the caliper paints on the market. It can take over twice as much
heat as well. Plus because of the formula, it leaves a nice shiny
finish, not a dull one you'll usually get with caliper paint.
Powdercoating your OEM calipers is silly in my opinion.
If painting them wasn't so cheap and easy I'd that that was silly too.
Whatever floats ya though.

I put on four coats of black G2 paint last May and it's holding up fairly well. There's some chipping, but that's to be expected. There's nothing really noticable unless you look up close. I expect I'll need to re-paint it next year, but this year it should be fine.

I have the G2 set for black.
G2 is not just a paint, it's an epoxy.
So once you mix the activator in with the pigment then you only
have about 4-6 hours to finish the job.
So you G2 guys...
How do I do that without a lift?
Do lift the whole front of the car, pull the tires, paint, then put the
tires back on, lift the whole back, pull tires, paint, back to front, etc?
I haven't done it yet because I fear the time table I have with the G2.
I want to use the entire can of paint stuff, however many coats that is.
If it's ten coats, so be it. But I want to use it all. And I will only have
about 5 hours to do so.
If I keep the mixed up paint solution sitting in a bowl of ice, would that
give me more time?
When working with other epoxy's, I mix them in the bottom of a cold
soda can and that gives me more time to work with them.

I used duplicolor engine block paint which was suppositly resistive to 500 degrees, i guess now I just gotta sand it off and redo the whole thing with G2, maybe i'll come out better.
