anthracite v. carbon grey

i was at miami acura tonight around 7 and it was fairly dark out but is the anthracite on the tl the same color as the carbon grey on the tsx ?

miami acura had a black tl with parchment inside for 33656 with lip spoiler and the full kit didnt check the miles but i think they are using the anthra. for test drives

just wondering about the colors

They're definitely at least very similar. Some people here even slip up sometimes and say "Carbon Grey" for the TL instead of Anthracite, but of course we kick their butt pretty quick.

I would guess there's at least a slight difference between the colors, not that I can tell any difference but just because I would guess Honda/Acura would want the color on each model to be unique, so they'd throw an extra dab of green tint or blue tint or whatever in there to make it unique.

Not sure if they're the same color but for sure Carbon Gray is a pearl, Anthracite is metallic.

Great question. Normally I'd say "pearl" is softer, "metallic" is, well, metallic. But I'm not sure this distinction applies, at least from what we see on TSX's.

How does the Accord's graphite pearl compare to anthracite and carbon gray? Never seen them all together so i can't tell.

One complaint about the TL line - not enough nifty colors. I'd love to see a TL in a light blue teal kind of shade, as well as a blue -silver.

shaabaz, graphite pearl and carbon gray are the same paint code, so they are the same color, weird that they changed the name on that one and not ot NBP or MR.

Yeah someone please put a gray Accord sedan, a gray TL, and a gray TSX side by side so we try to find the difference. They all look the same to me.

The Accord and TSX are the same. I've tried it with my car (plus as esr says, the paint code is the same). I haven't had a chance to park next to one, but the TL looks like a darker grey.

Anthracite vs Carbon Grey are definitely two different colors. Anthracite is lighter, more silver-grey where as Carbon Grey is a darker medium grey with just a hint of blue to it. If I could, I would attach pics of both to show you that Carbon is several shades darker. Could anyone else supply pics?

Thanks for confirming that Carbon and Graphite are the same color. I thought so, but didn't know that were the same paint code.

i was thinking about this the other day...i agree with Jeff, the anthracite does seem lighter...if the TSX came in CG or Anthracite I wouldnt know which one I would like better, would need to see them side by side

Maybe this has nothing to do with anything, but....the linguistics of this is (are?) interesting. On the basis of the colors' names, one would think it's the other way around. "Anthracite," I think, refers to the darkest kind of coal, which is very black. And "carbon grey," who knows exactly what that should be (it's kind of an oxymoron, because "carbon" is black, and "grey" is gray ), but since it does have "grey" in the name, one would think it would be lighter than the darkest kind of coal.

Not sure if Honda adheres to below definitions with their paints, from AUTOVISUALS.COM:

"Metallic colors contain very fine, sparkling metallic flakes. This makes the paint glitter and sparkle..."

"Tri-Coats or 3 Stage Paints: A tri-coat or 3-stage paint has three different layers: base coat, pearl coat and clear coat...the pearl coat is a translucent paint with pearl flakes mixed in. The last coat is the clear coat, which is a shiny see through paint. This is also a protective coat from the sun. Tri-Coats show slight highlights of diverse colors when you look at your car from different angles."
