Hence, the MX-5 designation in Europe.

It makes no sense. You have.
TL
But the flagship RL after the TL
MDX replaced the SLX, nothing in common with the name
NSX is the sports car
RSX is the entry level sporty car so I can see how they relate
TSX is a sedan and looks totally out of place. Maybe EL or GL or something to go with TL and RL.
Then the coupe was CL like the sedans?
I am lost
You have type-s, now A-spec. No more 3.2 or 3.5, just TL and RL etc. Add SH-AWD badge on the next RL
I wonder who gets paid for this shit.

I prefer to think that they mean nothing, rather than justin's likely correct assertation of what these stupid letters mean. I don't want to one day be driving the "touring sport experimental with super handling all-wheel drive"
edit: this kinda reminds me of medicine:
"HPI- 60 YO WM with a PMH of BPH, HTN, and CAD S/P MI, CABG 1996 is S/P unrestrained MVA driving a MDX with IMA and SH-AWD..."
