acura dealer offering 'vehicle upgrade event'

I just received this in the mail... <address taken out>

And I"m like.. wow.. could I possibly trade in my 04 for an 05 for no cost? However a problem I see is that I modded my car as follows..

+ added ipod/snhond3 functionality
+ ps2 in glove
+ avelectronics
+ aftermarket stereo system
+ took out the backwall so you can't put seats down (for amps)
+ rear sway

The only thing I might care about is if I can trade in for an a-spec.. but why bother to buy cars? Is there THAT much demand for 04s?

The weird thing about this is it is pretty exclusive. When I called them, they reminded me to be sure to bring the flyer to gain entrance. Opinions.. anyone?

Dude, it's a ripoff. Don't trust dealerships. They will do or say ANYTHING to make an extra buck. They will lure you in with a "too good to be true" ad like this one, give you a crappy trade in value on your ride, fix the monthly payments to make you happy while ripping you off with a bloated vehicle value/interest rate/etc., and laugh all the way to the bank. Joerockt is right - this is a marketing ploy.

Don't get suckered.

yep they make money off you with the financing and trade in value on your car and then they make a boat load more off selling your vehicle to someone else for alot more then they gave you for it. so in turn they just made money of you for almost refinancing and for reselling a car they already sold to you.

Yeah -- It's a marketing letter -- Did you notice -- that you can trade your TSX in on any 2005 Acura car, truck, Van and SUV? Call them up and ask them about the new Acura van...

Actually though, 04 TSX & TSX trade values are very high about $22,500 for an average TSX and $29,000 on TLs (non-Navi on both). That's very, very good after one year -- I don't know -- with those mods, I'd keep on driving!

Dan,

I work with someone who showed me the same letter (He purchased a certified integra Type R from South Coast Acura but has his maintenance done at Weir Canyon). The letter says the exact same thing but where it is bolded ACURA TSX, his says INTEGRA. He said it was just a marketing ploy to get him to trade in his car for another one. You know how dealers work. They won't willingly lose money on a deal by trading in a used car for a new one with hardly any out of pocket cost TO YOU!! Just not happending.

And from reading the letter, there does not seem to be anything special about it. It basically says come and trade in your car and lets make a deal (thats in the dealers favor).

Anyway, lunch on Monday!!!

"Notice to the Public". But, it is not open to the public.

That along should raise a red flag.

I also got my TSX from Weir Canyon; and also got that same letter. Funny thing about that trade in event exclusively for Acura owners; I got another letter (or flyer) from them saying the same thing....a special event with 3.9% APR on 05 models and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC and occuring on those same dates!

God this dealer is retarded. There's the Acura MDX whicch is an SUV. There is NO truck or van. I'd take that letter just to ask for the truck/van and show these dumbasses how ridiculous they are.

You walk in with the letter: "screw the trade in! I'll pay 10,000 over MSRP for the new Acura van!"

"Uh, sir..." :-D
