A _different_ shift-knob customization

ok -- I'm hoping someone reads this since there've probably been a gazillion custom shift-knob threads already!

Basically, as much as I love the std. knob of the 6MT, I can't help but think that it would be just a tad classier if the grooves (i.e. the shift pattern markings) were a deep blue or black instead of red. However, I have no skill/experience with painting and I'd rather kill myself than make a mess of the knob -- anybody have any ideas about how to go about painting the grooves (technique, equipment, paint type etc.). Any suggestions about the color are welcome too..

If you want a black one, get a S2000 /Accord 6MT shift knob. Painting will probably be more of a pain in the ass than it's worth.

Hmm... there's a lot of chances to screw up on such a fine job. If you look at the new S2000, it has the exact same shifter, *edit* yeah what he said

ClutchPerformer, xizor -- thanks!!

I hardly researched the s2k when I bought my TSX so I was completely clueless about the shifters being identical (I knew the MT was the same or similar, but assumed the s2k would have a different knob).

Kinda takes the fun out of the modding process though

On the ClubRSX site they have used nail polish to fill the grooves and then gently rub acetone across knob to remove excess color.

A year ago, I used Lacquer Stick Fill in Paint, it has consistency of a cream cheese, I rubbed it into the numbers and then just cleaned up excess with paper towel. Quite easy. Still looks great. I got Lacquer Stick from Brownells: http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/sto...il.aspx?p=7778
