80K service question
I don't know how my dealer calculates the mileage when I get my next oil change, but I got my oil change done back in April along with my 70K service.
My mileage was at 69,621 and they put a oil change sticker in my windshield that says come back in October or at 77,121. I calculated and that is 8,000 miles or 6 months. I get the 6 months, but 8,000 miles??
I am almost at 76,000 miles and plan on just waiting until I get to almost 80,000 miles to get my oil changed along with the 80K service so that I won't have to waste time getting the oil changed at 77K and then at 80K. Good idea?

it's a car-drive it
My car is due for an oil/filter change. I plan to get it done next week. My tsx, will be 3 years old in Nov. According to the owners manual a brake fluid change will be do then. I will get the oil changed as planned and then in Nov it will be brake fluid and Manual transmission fluid changes. Regular oil changes are one of the key factors to keep the car going longer. My car has almost 93,000 miles.

Get a UOA. Mine currently says I should be good for about 9,000 miles invertals. If you use a good oil, 8.000 shouldn't be a problem. I don't know of any dealer who will tell you anything other than follow the MM or 6 months though. 3,000 miles is a waste. I'd change it at 77 then again around 84. Just don't cahnge it at 80. All this assumes your car's wear is the same as mine, which it may not. You might need a 5,000 miles interval for yours.

id wait until 80k trust me i went 5k miles over my recommended oil change one time and it was fine..you dont want to make it a habit but to save yourself a $100 in a time when the economy sucks, its a good idea to hold off

the only reason why i wanted to go to 80K is to follow the maintenance journal on my 04 TSX and to save money. i detest when dealers give you postcards in the mail stating now is the time for your 75,000 mile service. it doesn't say to do a 75K service in the TSX maintenance journal, so I just shred the postcards.
