6MT owners: How durable is our clutch? How many miles before you replaced it?
I'm about to put a lot of stop and go miles on my 6MT, 70+ miles daily.
Fortunately most of it is on level ground.
How many miles have you put on your clutch before you had to replace it?
FYI, I was able to get 140k miles on my previous car before I had to replace the clutch, and the mechanic said I still had plenty of life left.

Maybe none of us have had to replace it yet? I bought my car used at 50,000 miles with the original clutch... only has 55 on it now, and I expect it to last a looonng time.
I sold my old prelude at 126,000 miles and it had the original clutch still goin strong...

Let me help you!
I think sauceman would be the best person to ask. Isn't he the one that has the most miles (and I think he did a guide on how to drive a MT with improved fuel efficiency)?

^^Maybe if he even shows up.... haven't seen him around lately.

The previous owner of my 04, who was a woman in her late 50's according to the dealer, managed to kill the clutch in 44,000 miles. The dealer put a new one in as part of the certification process and I suspect I'll not have to mess with it ever again as I actually know what I'm doing with left foot, unlike the PO.

RE: Clutch Issues
OK so it sounds like everything is going well for most. I have just purchased a stock 6mt TSX. IT has 4,750 mi on it. I have owned it for about 5 months and drive about 65 mi (in chicago traffic) to and fro each day. I love the car but noticed some minor issues I belive are related to the clutch. FIrst gear is hard to get into and sometimes hard to get out of even if the clutch is completley depressed. If I shift to quickly it feels as though I am actually shifting prior to the clutch fully disengaging. I also noticed a bit of slipping getting into second gear. Bascially all these troubles require me to hesitate while shifting as I am wating for the clutch to disengage and worries me as the revs are close 1krpm when I actually get to shift shift requiring a modest increase in pressure on the gas. This makes shifting very uneasy and is certainly not good on the transmission. I am not new to the MT and do not race so feel as though my issues should be under warranty. They want a $500 deposit just to look at it and then they will make the determination if it is my fault or the clutch. Even if I did race this modest 205 HP machine I do not feel the clutch would wear at 4,700. Many of you have much more auto accumen so maybe you can help. Is this caused by a bearring/springs or the pressure plate or even the cylinder or can you honestly say I just suck at driving and may have already worn the clutch out. Could it just be that an adjustment may need to be made to the cable? I may be just anal and notice too much about shifting because I spend too much time in the car but I have never felt this on any other car. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

it's a car-drive it
we have owned numerous vehicles with manual transmission-we have never had to replace the clutch (knock-on-wood) and most of them went over 100,000+ miles. our 06 6spd tsx is 10 months old, bought new, with almost 25,000 miles.

As far as the $500 deposit just to take a look at your car goes, tell them to suck your balls and never go back there again. That's totally ridiculous.

Can't wait to drive
54k on my 04 TSX, no problems with clutch. I have some growling sound on clutch engagement when it hasn't warmed up though. If you are having problems with shifting, do a quick fluid change with new acura manual transmission fluid, the new stuff works really well and shifts are much smoother. I change fluid every 12k miles , not only is it good for the tranny, but after 12k miles the shifter begins to get less smooth.

I have also never replaced a clutch on any car I've owned. Longest usage was 200,000 miles on a 1990 VW Corrado, 165,000 miles on a 1992 VW Passat, and 130,000 on a 1997 VW Jetta all with the original clutch.

I have 42K and it feels as good as it did when it was new. I wouldn't worry too much. I sold my 93 Accord EX a few years ago with 175K miles on the factory clutch and was working fine. As long as you don't abuse the car, no worries.

Someone stole "My Garage"
I had a 1991 Integra that had 350,000km on it when I sold it to my sister -- original clutch. And, it was still strong!
My TSX has about 118,000km (70,000 miles?) and the clutch is still perfect.
It all depends on how you drive it.
