60,000Km (Or How To End Your Warranty In 8 Months)
On a long road trip today, I reached the 60,000km milestone, which means now I'm praying my car doesn't break down, because it comes out of my pocket from here on.
So far, some work has been done under warranty:
-Rattles have been fixed
-Driver's door moulding was replaced
-Driver's seat rail replaced, but the loose seat remains.
-Secondary O2 sensor has been replaced yesterday.
Let's hope it is all that has to be done for a while, but somehow I have the feeling this car is going to cost me a lot more in maintenance and repairs than my 95 Accord.
I'm still a little disappointed in the very short warranty terms we have in Canada, especially given this car is at it's first model year in North America, especially that mine is so early in the production line (#134). But it was a risk I was willing to assume when I signed back in May, so I guess my complaining ends here.
Anyways, 60,000km in 8 months and 10 days means I should end my first mileage year to this car at about 85,000 to 90,000km. Doesn't beat the 125,000/year I did with my 95 Accord though. Guess I've slowed down.
Had to write it...

Holy crap.. uh I mean... congrats! Yeah, the Cdn warranty sucks. I got the 7/160 warranty, but for you that's 1.5 yrs. of coverage - not worth it. I guess we'll be asking you all the high mileage questions.
btw, that means you're not selling the car?

agreed
It sure sucks having to pony up an extra grand like I did when I extended to 5yr/100KM. Bollocks.
I guess you'll be our source for what this car will cost the rest of us in 5 years or so.
we pray for your car's future

I also have high mileage on my TSX too. I have 17,xxx miles on my TSX, which translates to about 29,000 Kilometers, and my car is about 9 months old.
I drove it a lot last summer and fall to places like New York, Washington DC, Columbus, Ohio, Kansas City, MO, and Toronto (The Best City in North America.) Some of these trips I made more than once. I like Acura's 4/50k miles warranty here in the U.S.
As for now, my TSX is still at the dealer waiting for the steering wheel knocking noise to be fixed. I am currently driving my CR-V or Accord.

Best gas mileage: 1094Km with 72 litres = 43mpg / 36 US mpg
This year, I expect to exceed 50000km too. Do you intend to keep your car for a long time?

kiteboy: Lol, yeah, I stopped trying to sell the car, I wasn't going to sell anyway if I was going to lose money. My wife hollered, so I bought her a set of washer/dryer instead, lol.
tsxer.ca: Well, it is pretty easy: Use the car for your work, and when it consists of driving around visiting hardware stores in Quebec, you get the kind of mileage I travel.
I had to change the sensor, because an CEL appeared and the car started driving like shit. Took a while though, the sensor was B.O. Seems like the O2 sensors took a beating this winter with the harsh weather.
domn and yuhoo22: Yes, I got them on, Michelin Pilot Alpin 215 55R16's. Got a good deal too, some $225 savings off of them, so I ran out of the garage like I stole them. But seriously they are doing well, especially in sludge, but on snow, they are not as good, probablybecause they are so large, a little too much for my liking, but eh, the 205's were B.O. too.
As for the stock tires, they had 45,000km on when I took them off, and they should easily last for another full summer, up to 100k. I personally like them because of the durability, and for the performance you still manage to get by comparison with other high mileage all weather tires, they are one of, if not the best compromise. Of course, for all out performance, it's another story. I'd like to try out the pilot sports when the stockers go.
Saintor: The near-1100km stunt was done driving at speed limits, and feathering the gas at stops and lights. I am in the process of completing a 900km tank this week, which is very good, considering it is winter. Note that this is with an full tank of 72litres (yes, 72, not 65, if you don't believe me, do a search in my past threads)
Thanks for your replies, guys, I'll try and answer as quick as I can, but if it takes a while, it's normal, I'm overloaded with work, and preparing to leave for Fla. (woohoo!)

Well I already have 20,000+ miles on my TSX now and I bought mine back in April. I am still on the original tires (of course), have had the rotors replaced as they got warped, and only had a handful of stuff done on the car. I had the 15k mile maintenance performed on it, many oil changes, but that's about it. I don't hear the rattles anymore. I think the car is settling in. I have been trying to cut back on my driving though, so as to not run out my warranty before I at least get 2 years service out of the car.
My best gas mileage to date was about 34 mpg on the interstate going at around 74 MPH continuously.

Sauceman, that's an incredible amount of mileage! I take it that its a given that you will never be able to lease a car....can you imagine the look on the dealer's face if you walk in and ask for an 85,000 km per year limit !!!

At one point your odometer will go back to 0. Then and only then, I would bring it in for warranty repairs.
By the way, OMFG, do you live in your car? I hope your car is not leased!
You will probably be the first one getting to 100,000KM in North America... Pretty kool.
