5AT SS General Question
I prefer using SS, but does it affect on Transmission Life if i keep down shifting/up shifting frequently??
ex: at 30mph, it was at 5th gear, but when I down shift to like 2 or 3, does it affect on Transmission life dramatically?
or

People say its uncessary to downshift due to the cost of replace a transmission or replacing brake pads. Think of the cost difference between 0 dollar pads and some ridiculous amount for a new auto tranny.
I stopped downshifting becasue it really doesnt help you to stop much at all.

No. Each gear is engaged with a separate clutch pack. The clutch pack in use will heat up when changing gears. The ATF (if in good condition) will be able sufficiently cool and lubricate the parts to prevent break down. So you should be fine going from 5->4->3->2.
However, the majority of transmission failures is due to heat. Perhaps if you repeatedly did 2->3->…->2->3, the clutch pack could heat up to the point where the fluid is unable to compensate for the heat and the clutch pack breaks down. Or the ATF is heated to the point where is start to degrade (>170F). Once your fluid is degraded, all that left to degrade is the transmission.
