5 years of ownership
I have not posted in a while, but I do come here often to read. I read a lot of negative comments about the TSX but I do want to share that after 5 years of ownership, the car is still solid. I have the occassional ratte in the center console and yes it is annoying, but I think I've learn to live with it. A lot of times, I don't even notice it. The engine still runs smoothly, the transmission is still shifting just like new and overall, there hasn't been any major issues (fingers-crossed). I'm still on my original rear brake pads/rotors, the front was replaced about 3 years ago (under warranty) and it's still working just fine.
Other than oil/ATF/brake fluid/filter changes (all DIY), no other major maintenance has been performed. I am planning on replacing the coolant this summer though.
Here's some stats:
Bought the car in April 03
Current mileage - 49,xxx miles
Avg MPG - winter 25.5, summer 26.5
Scratches/dents - all over the friggin car.
I have no desire to sell the car, I'm planning on keeping it for at least another 5.

Congrats!!! That is great to hear! This car is so reliable that I'll probably have it for the next 5 years too or until they increase interior space in the Lexus IS. I put some bridgestone tires on my car and wow it rocks in traction ability.

Gosh only 49K miles on your car?
I have 56K miles and I bought the car in December 03. I have had the harness recall and condensation in the headlights recall done, my 6 cd changer failed, replaced the drivers seat railing, cd storage bin door replaced, 3 rattles fixed, front and rear brake pads replaced, new tires, and a new battery. Only things replaced out of my pocket have been the new tires, battery, and just today the rear axle seal leak, along with the routine maintenance.

Just coming up to my 5 year anniversary as well. Bought the car in April 03. Car now has 114,000 km on the odo. Still really like the car.
Very few issues to report: center console lighting failed - replaced entire unit under warranty; oil consumption - have been monitoring it and it seems to have leveled off. I add 2 quarts between oil changes; brake fluid ran low for some reason at 100,000 km - topped it up with no problems since; brake pads and rotors needed replacing at 78,000 km; replaced the Michelins with Yokahama all seasons at 78,000 km (i have alternated with Hankook IceBears on steel rims in the winter for 4 seasons now); minor rattle from the engine bay when turning the car on something is loose but I haven't checked what it is; clutch pedal gets an annual lubing to fix the clicking.
Other than that I really enjoy the car for its handling and its simplicity with a touch of luxury. The only thing I wish it had is more torque. Once at highway speed its more than adequate.
Hopefully, I'll get another 5 yrs out of the deal.

I just hit the 4 year mark in my car. I was thinking of upgrading to a 335xi, but decided that I'm going to hold on to the TSX till it dies and pick up a roadster for weekends/fun when I get the money (which could take a while!).
The TSX is really too economical, fun, and full-featured to justify getting rid of it
Plus I'm only at 23K miles!

I'll be at the 5 year mark in November. I have 78,000 miles. No rattles, scratches, dents, etc.. it's still new to me and no desire to trade up (and this is the longest I've owned a car). Just had to put new tires on all around and had a few warranty/recall items fixed along the way, but overall very happy.

Congrats on the 5 year mark. I'm at 4 years, 3+ months, ~26K miles and feel much the same way. It's paid for, in near flawless condition and I still really enjoy driving it. Plus I've modded the ever lovin' bejeezus out of it.
My eye still wanders to other cars from time to time, but in the end it'll be the TSX for quite some time I think. It's nice not having car payments.

I've had my TSX for 15 months and 16k miles. The car has been rock solid. The only issue that I had was the sunroof creak/pop sound when opening it. The dealership fixed that, and it's been quiet ever since. Other than that, I've just done routing maintenance. So far, (knock on wood), the car has been great! I plan on keeping it for awhile, especially since it's paid off

My TSX will be 5 years in May. I have 56k miles and have never had any serious problems. I still love it! After driving Mazda sports cars for nearly thirty years it was so great to get into a car which had great reliability, some luxury and refinement at a reasonable price and still has good driveability. I can't see getting another for several more years since this one is still like new.

So you have scratches all over your car for a car you drive approx. 10K miles a year? lol
Are you always parking in the front of parking lots? Just curious.
