3m Protection

Has anybody had the 3m Protection installed? I'm not sure if that is the correct description, but its a clear kinda tape that they put over the front of the hood. It's a $399 (cdn) cost that I'm not sure is worth it.

Is that the price from the dealer? I hope that price isn't just for the hood....

You should be able to get the bumpers, part of the front fenders and the hood done for less than that. The stuff does work though.

for me.. i won't put it on. cause it did't cover all the surface of the car.. as long as i know it won;t cover all the hood area too.. so you hood will still get hit by the small stone. still is up to you.. is your car..

90% of the chips you get are going to be on the bumper or the leading edge of the hood so I wouldn't worry about the rest of the hood. Besides, what protection system do you know of that actually covers the whole hood?

Sounds pricey to me too. Kuya, try a site search. (I don't mean that is a bad way) We discussed this a while back and others came away paying alot less. (In Toronto) In fact there's also another similar product not made by 3M that was just as good, only cheaper.

If that's the price including the laser-cut piece for the front bumper, then it's not bad. If it's just the upper part (hood/fenders) then it's kinda high. I had the hood, fenders and mirrors done for about CDN$125. I was quoted something like $275-$300 for the pre-cut bumper part and decided to pass on it.

Is that true? Someone told me it would be inevitable to get some on my hood. I'm dreading it.. I'll try to avoid tailgating as much as possible.. (for many reasons)
